Amazon on Thursday announced Prime members can access new fixed pricing for treatment of conditions like erectile dysfunction and men's hair loss, its latest effort to compete with other direct-to-consumer marketplaces such as Hims & Hers Health and Ro. Medications filled through Amazon Pharmacy are eligible for discounted pricing and will be delivered to patients' doors in standard Amazon packaging. Analysts at Bank of America downgraded shares of Hims & Hers from buy to underperform on Thursday, citing Amazon's push into hair loss and erectile dysfunction markets. The analysts said Hims & Hers generates more than 80% gross margins from its core erectile dysfunction and hair loss offerings, and estimate that Amazon's medications for those conditions are about 42% and 29% cheaper respectively. While crisis pregnancy centers’ pattern of locating near abortion facilities is well documented, the new research, published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Medical Internet Research, maps women’s geographic access to both crisis pregnancy centers and abortion facilities. The new study found that in 2021, crisis pregnancy centers outnumbered abortion clinics 3-to-1 in the U.S., but acknowledged that the figure is probably greater now post-Dobbs. On average, the distance between crisis pregnancy centers and abortion facilities in the U.S. was 5.5 miles. Abortion clinics offer other health careAbortion-rights advocates say that when communities lose abortion clinics, they also lose access to other health care services for women. CNN —Ancient DNA has revealed surprises about the identities of some people who perished in the ancient Roman town of Pompeii after a volcanic eruption, overturning misconceptions about their genetic relationships, ancestry and sex. Ash and volcanic rock called pumice then covered Pompeii and its residents, preserving scenes of the victims of the city’s destruction like an eerie time capsule. While the Greeks, Etruscans and Samnites attempted to conquer it, Pompeii became a Roman colony, the study authors noted. In 2015, the Archaeological Park of Pompeii began efforts to restore 86 of the 104 casts originally made by Fiorelli. Together, park scientists and the study authors are working on a larger project to better understand the genetic diversity present in Pompeii during the Roman Empire.

Several people, including children and college students, have reported receiving racist text messages from unrecognized phone numbers in recent days.
