Despite throwing events attended by thousands, Andrew Yeung has never made a cent off his parties. They've all gathered at the personal invitation of a 27-year-old Google product lead named Andrew Yeung. The terms of his visa stipulate that he can only derive income from his day job at Google. And there was nothing bigger in his father's mind than a tech job in the United States. It was the first Andrew Yeung party.

That was like queer eye for the straight guy!”Carson Kressley, left, in "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy." “And of course as luck would have it, ‘Queer Eye’ was our very first attempt at a reality show,” he added. It’s not that they’re bigger, they just became louder,” said Rob Eric, “Queer Eye” executive producer and longtime associate and friend of Collins and Williams. They’ve also enjoyed seeing the legacy they’ve created evolve and grow to new heights with Netflix’s gender-neutral and more succinctly titled “Queer Eye” – which wrapped its seventh season earlier this year. “The new ‘Queer Eye’ wouldn’t happen without these guys,” Collins said.

Decades of data shows that young Black men are disproportionately more likely to die in encounters with police than Whites. But young Black girls face some of the same vulnerabilities – as well as some particular ones. My Black daughters shouldn’t have to feel like they’re responsible for everyone else around them. Black women are often expected to raise their voices and pick up cell phones to protect family, friends and even strangers. The dangers of shopping while Black are well documented; Black women are accustomed to being racially profiled by retail workers who follow them in stores.

New Jersey’s Senators Push Back on Congestion Pricing
  + stars: | 2023-05-15 | by ( Ana Ley | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +2 min
Many transit advocates, community leaders and urban planning experts in New York have celebrated the progress made toward congestion pricing this month, saying it was long overdue. The loudest opposition to the program has come from New Jersey. Mr. Murphy on Monday also unveiled an advertising campaign criticizing the program, complete with billboards near interstate crossings. Other opponents of congestion pricing have included taxi drivers and Lyft and Uber drivers, who worry that fare increases triggered by the tolls could slash demand for taxis and for-hire rides by up to 17 percent. says the program, which would affect drivers entering Manhattan south of 60th Street, could begin as soon as spring 2024.
Questions ranged from the simple — knowing that factory conditions in the 1800s were dangerous, with long days and low pay — to the complex. For example, only 6 percent of students could explain in their own words how two ideas from the Constitution were reflected in the Rev. The dip in civics performance was smaller but notable: It was the first decline since the test began being administered in the late 1990s. About 22 percent of students were proficient, down from 24 percent in 2018. Across subjects, declines were often driven by the lowest-performing students, a trend that has federal officials so concerned that they are now considering rewriting test questions to zero in on what these students are missing.
Democratic Montana Rep. Zooey Zephyr is the state's first openly transgender legislator. Following her speech, Montana's Freedom Caucus demanded Zephyr be censured. Additionally, the caucus also misgendered Zephyr, the first openly transgender member of the Montana legislature, in the letter. House Minority Leader Kim Abbott, in a statement to the Helena Independent Record, admonished the Montana Freedom Caucus for disrespecting her colleague. "I stand by my accurate description of the devastating consequences of banning essential medical care for transgender youth," Zephyr wrote.
Just this week, there have been two high-profile face-plants by company leaders who ostensibly wanted to inspire their staffs and wound up doing…the opposite of that. In a statement to CNN, Clearlink declined to address Clarke’s remarks in the video, though the company did not challenge its authenticity. And who could forget Better.com’s CEO laying off 900 people over Zoom? But I’d propose a simple mantra for executives when weighing in on unpopular topics like returning to the office or laying people off. (OK, most nights — we believe in a four-day work week around here.)

Marc Benioff said he was adopting Oracle's playbook and being mentored by Larry Ellison as he focuses on profitability. But on Wednesday, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff admitted that he was adopting Oracle's playbook and being tutored on it by Oracle's founder and chairman Larry Ellison. Benioff started his career at Oracle at age 23, and Ellison made him into a star executive by age 26. The drama started when Oracle started working on a product that competed with Salesforce, eventually leading Benioff to kick Ellison off his board. And now Benioff is publicly thanking Ellison and his Oracle playbook as Salesforce fends off no fewer than five activist investors, all pressuring the company to improve profitability.
The Proud Boys sedition-trial jury will be picked Monday, out of a pre-vetted pool of DC residents. The defense teams plan to make one last-ditch venue-change motion immediately after the jurors are seated, according to a person familiar with their strategy. "It's not surprising that these potential jurors knew something about the Proud Boys and January 6th, particularly since they live in DC," Suter told Insider. Those views included "preconceived beliefs that the Proud Boys are a 'dangerous armed group,' a 'hate filled group,' 'racists,' and other clearly biased views followed by assertions that they nonetheless can be fair." Defense lawyers are very likely spending the weekend pouring over any public records on the 45 or so prospects in the pool, Suter said.
Some TikTok users are destroying Balenciaga purses, shoes and other luxury products in protest of the fashion house's holiday campaign, which portrayed children holding plush bears dressed in leather harnesses. The campaign was criticized as inappropriate and harmful to children because the teddy bears appeared to be dressed in kink gear. Balenciaga apologized for the campaign last month, suggesting on Instagram that it hadn’t approved the images before the campaign went live. “Our plush bear bags should not have been featured with children in this campaign,” the company said. On TikTok, creators who were formerly loyal to Balenciaga posted videos admonishing it.
Sebastian Galassi, 26, was a delivery rider in Florence, Italy, for the Spanish startup Glovo. He died on October 1 after his moped collided with a Land Rover SUV while on shift for Glovo. His family discovered an email the next day firing him, which Glovo claims was a mistake. The following day, Galassi's family discovered an email informing Galassi that he had been fired from the company "for non-compliance with the terms and conditions" of his role. A Nazi sympathizer who stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021 was sentenced to 4 years in prison. Timothy Hale-Cusanelli in May was found guilty of five charges related to the siege. At least 919 people have been arrested in connection to the siege and nearly 400 people have pleaded guilty. McFadden also castigated Hale-Cusanelli, saying he believed that the defendant's antisemitic, racist, and sexist beliefs, in part, led Hale-Cusanelli to the Capitol on January 6. Following the siege, Hale-Cusanelli described the experience as "exhilarating" and said he was "hoping for a civil war," according to prosecutors.

Today, Justin is working the least he ever has: 40 hours a week. But what these executives are missing is that some employees don't want to pal around with their coworkers. In peak hustle culture, work was where we expected to find everything we needed to live the good life: joy, purpose, community. Then he started billing for 40 hours a week of labor that often took him only a few hours to complete. But after nine months of leaning back, a solid 40 hours is starting to look pretty attractive.
