Rojas found a online business coach via their free workshop, then hired them for personal sessions. I wanted to use my expertise to help others and build a flexible business but didn't know where to start. The coach pitched one-on-one coaching program, a five-figure investment. AdvertisementThe coaching program was an hourlong 1:1 session once a week over seven weeks. Per the agreement, I couldn't cancel or request a refund, so I had to keep paying for the coaching program even though I was no longer invested.

In 10 years — give or take six months — the 2034 men’s World Cup will be played in Saudi Arabia. “Fundamental human-rights reforms are urgently required in Saudi Arabia, or the 2034 World Cup will be inevitably tarnished by exploitation, discrimination and repression.”Why will the Saudi bid stand unopposed? CNN —Donald Trump once publicly speculated that Time would never name him the news magazine’s “Person of the Year.”Now, the honor will be bestowed on him twice. Trump’s 2024 selection mirrors his first recognition in 2016, when Time named him Person of the Year after his unexpected rise to the presidency. Despite the magazine’s dwindling circulation, Time’s Person of the Year remains an annual cultural touchstone and the distinction has become an obsession of sorts for Trump throughout the years. Despite his regular criticism of the media, Trump has regularly granted access to legacy outlets – including Time. Every US president since Franklin Delano Roosevelt, except Gerald Ford, has been named Person of the Year at least once.

The Biden administration should seize Russia's frozen assets held by the US, two researchers say. President Joe Biden's final move to help Ukraine should be to seize Russia's reserve assets held by the US before the start of Donald Trump's second term, two researchers wrote this week. "Saudi Arabia, for example, has threatened to sell its European debt holdings if Europe seizes the frozen assets." The US wouldn't be completely alone in doing so — both Canada and the United Kingdom appear willing to seize assets held in their countries. Russia has warned of retaliation if its frozen assets are seized, cautioning that it could seize Western-owned corporate assets still in the country.

Washington CNN —One of President Joe Biden’s former top communications advisers ravaged the president’s messaging rollout strategy around his decision to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, lambasting the situation as “exceptionally poor timing” in a major public rebuke of her former boss. Dunn was a deeply loyal aide with a big-picture view of Biden’s strategy – with a hand in nearly all aspects of his political life. The president has said he made the decision over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend while with family in Nantucket. A new CNN/SSRS poll released on Wednesday shows that just one-third of Americans (32%) approve of the president’s decision to pardon his son, while 68% disapprove. The White House has defended Biden’s decision, with press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre arguing that President-elect Donald Trump would not slow down in pursuit of bringing charges against Hunter Biden in the future.

Washington CNN —President Joe Biden is facing mounting pressure from Democratic lawmakers and allies to extend protections to immigrants in the United States amid party fears over President-elect Donald Trump’s promise of mass deportations. Some administration officials are skeptical that expanding or redesignating TPS would pass muster under an incoming administration beyond those that will already be up for renewal. Temporary protections for El Salvadorans in the United States, for example, are set to expire in early March. Just before leaving office in 2021, Trump provided Venezuelans already in the United States temporary protection from deportation. “People are on the edge of their seat,” one immigrant advocate told CNN, referring to immigrants in the United States.

The next generation of Google's AI is being packaged under the Gemini umbrella, which was unveiled a year ago. Google is planning wider releases next year that will include the technology popping up in its smorgasbord of free products, including its Chrome browser, digital maps and YouTube. After releasing a software update enabling the first bundle of the iPhone's “Apple Intelligence” features that spruced up the device's Siri assistant, another batch of the AI technology came out with a free software update that was also released Wednesday. After the AI overviews initially produced some goofy suggestions, including putting glue on pizza, Google refined the technology to minimize such missteps. The improvements to AI Overviews will initially only appear to a test audience before a wider release next year.

Trump’s pick to lead the Justice Department’s storied Civil Rights Division – conservative San Francisco attorney Harmeet Dhillon – is expected to use the powerful perch to reverse many of the Biden administration’s civil rights initiatives. “The Civil Rights Division’s historical mandate from the beginning was to help fight against othering, was to help fight against societal branding of certain Americans as other,” Levitt said. Created in the 1950s, the Civil Rights Division leads the Justice Department’s enforcement of federal laws intended to combat discrimination in areas such as housing, employment and education. A federal judge in North Dakota blocked a Biden administration rule that allowed DACA recipients to sign up for health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. People who received benefits from DACA, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, began signing up for coverage under the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, at the start of open enrollment on Nov. 1. Coverage for those who signed up was expected to start as early as Jan. 1. Still, the elimination of expanded coverage, Pillai said, could leave thousands of uninsured DACA recipients in those states without an affordable option. “Given that President-elect Trump tried to end DACA during his first term and his views on immigration more broadly, the Trump administration seems unlikely to appeal any ruling against DACA or the coverage expansion,” Pillai said.

Mike Rounds, R-S.D., and Angus King, I-Maine, cut a bipartisan deal to give Dreamers legal status while giving Trump money for his border wall, Trump’s White House successfully fought to kill the deal because it didn’t also curtail family-based immigration. Last year, Trump successfully fought to sink a bipartisan deal to toughen border security as he campaigned on the issue. WASHINGTON — Rep. Bennie Thompson, who chaired the now-defunct House Jan. 6 committee, pushed back Tuesday against President-elect Donald Trump's suggestion that the panel's former members should be imprisoned. The suggestion is "absolutely wrong," the Mississippi Democrat told reporters on Capitol Hill, saying that the committee did nothing "that violates the law." "Just because you disagree with the work of the committee," Thompson said, it's no reason "to threaten those members of the committee with jail, so obviously that’s his opinion." House Democratic Caucus Rep. Pete Aguilar, D-Calif., who also served on the Jan. committee, said Tuesday that he and the other committee members did their job and "upheld the rule of law."
