For Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg, self-reflection is serious business. Vestberg started the routine in 2009 after becoming CEO of Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson, and he's done it "every day" since, he said. Each morning, Vestberg ranks his mood "from 1 to 10," he said, helping him get into the "right mood and right energy" to do his job. Jerry Colonna, an executive coach sometimes known as the "CEO whisperer," has a similar routine called "radical self-inquiry" that he says helps him make better decisions. "Spend a few minutes each day, but not the entire day, asking questions like how am I really feeling?

The trial began Tuesday with talk of the "future of the internet" but quickly plunged into the weeds of commercial agreements with Android makers like Motorola and Samsung. James Kolotouros, a Google executive responsible for negotiating the company's agreements with Android device makers and carriers, testified late in the week that Google pressed Android smartphone makers to have Google as the default search engine and other Google apps pre-installed on their machines. The antitrust fight has major implications for Big Tech, which has spent years being scrutinized by Congress and antitrust enforcers. Google argues that its search engine is wildly popular because of its quality, and payments to wireless companies or others were compensation for partners. The government also questioned a former Google executive, Chris Barton, who was at Google from 2004 to 2011.

Telecommunication giants AT & T and Verizon are turning a corner that will make it easier for both companies to maintain their high dividend yields, according to Citi. Analyst Michael Rollins upgraded Verizon and AT & T to buy. "A variety of concerns have weighed on Telco sentiment and valuation, including competition, industry structure, higher rates and lead. We see a more constructive investment case for large-cap Telcos," Rollins wrote in a Monday note. Verizon yields 7.8% along with AT & T, FactSet data shows.

Verizon has created a way for customers to block spam text messages from email accounts with just a single text, the company announced Tuesday. Verizon customers can text "OFF" to 4040 to block email-to-text messages, more than 80% of which are identified as spam, the carrier said. This simplifies the earlier process that Verizon had in place for turning off email-to-text messages. Text spam has been a persistent issue in the U.S. in recent years. Verizon said users who change their minds about opting out can begin receiving email-to-text messages again by texting "ON" to 4040.

July 25 (Reuters) - Verizon (VZ.N) beat quarterly profit estimates on Tuesday on the back of lower costs and a surprise rise in wireless subscribers as efforts to grow its enterprise customer base and super-fast 5G network paid off. They are still down about 5% since the July 9 Wall Street Journal report, which also named AT&T (T.N) among firms that left behind the potentially toxic lead cables. Free cash flow, a metric closely watched by investors to help determine dividend payouts, came in at $5.6 billion, above estimates of $5.05 billion, according to Visible Alpha. Total revenue fell 3.5% to $32.6 billion, missing analysts' estimates of $33.24 billion, according to Refinitiv data. It's difficult to associate Verizon with "massive savings," but that's precisely what you get on its prepaid brand Visible Wireless. Visible subscribers get access to the same rock-solid 5G network as Verizon customers, but the best deals on Visible phone plans offer similar access for considerably cheaper monthly costs. For instance, through July 5, the basic Visible plan for a single line was down to $25 per month, a $5 discount. Visible Wireless Basic Plan For $30 monthly, Visible's basic plan offers unlimited talk, text, and data with mobile hotspot on Verizon's standard 5G network. If you need 5G Ultra Wideband, Visible Plus still offers considerable value at its standard price of $45 monthly.

Comcast topped analyst expectations with its first quarter earnings report Thursday, despite the cable and media giant's residential broadband business's slowing growth and mounting Peacock losses. Still, it was a sign that Comcast, like its peers, continue to face slowing growth in the broadband business. Cable TV customers continued their exodus from the traditional bundle, with Comcast losing 614,000 subscribers during the quarter. Comcast said Peacock subscribers grew more than 60% year-over-year to 22 million, and revenue was up 45% to $685 million. Peacock had $704 million in losses, up from losses of $456 million in the same period last year.

All told, the gang allegedly stole hundreds of identities and defrauded retailers and credit card companies of $1.3 million. Whoever hacked my identity, it makes sense that they started with my credit card.
