The Federal Trade Commission announced Tuesday that it had finalized a rule that requires businesses to disclose the total price, including fees, for any live event tickets or short-term lodging they offer consumers. Officials estimated that the rule could save consumers up to 53 million hours of wasted time per year in searching for the total price of tickets and lodging. Businesses must display the all-in total price of its product most prominently in its advertising and pricing information. The rule does not prohibit businesses from adding fees, nor does it limit the amount of fees they can charge. The bill would require ticket sellers to disclose the all-in cost of a ticket including fees.

The “Star Trek” franchise is boldly going where it hasn’t gone before: the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry. “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan,” a 1982 release, was among the 25 films added to this year’s registry, the Library of Congress announced Tuesday. It is now among 900 titles in the registry, a list of films selected by the National Film Preservation Board. “Beverly Hills Cop,” a 1984 comedy and action film, marked star Eddie Murphy’s first feature film to make the list. “The wealth of American film history is sometimes rather overwhelming, and people often wonder: how do you recommend this film or that film?” Jacqueline Stewart, chair of the National Film Preservation Board, said in a statement.

CrowdStrike moved Monday evening to dismiss Delta Air Lines’ lawsuit around the July cybersecurity outage that led to canceled flights and stranded passengers, arguing that the airline’s litigation was an attempt to circumvent the contract between the two companies. The agreement between CrowdStrike and Delta includes a clause limiting CrowdStrike’s liability and a cap on damages, which the cybersecurity provider says Delta is now trying to skirt. CrowdStrike also argued in its filing that Georgia law prevents Delta from converting a breach of contract into tort claims. Delta said the July cybersecurity outage cost the company more than $500 million in canceled flights, refunds and passenger accommodations. Still, CrowdStrike said it moved quickly to try and help Delta — offers the cybersecurity company says were rebuffed.

Walmart has started giving store-level associates body cameras to wear as part of a pilot program at some of its U.S. locations, CNBC has learned. They blame the shop worker.”However, it’s unclear whether body cameras actually help to deescalate conflict. She said body cameras could be part of the solution but cameras alone are “no substitute” for proper training. Earlier this year, the off-price giant said it had started using body cameras in its stores, which include its TJ Maxx, Marshall’s and HomeGoods banners. Body cameras are just one of the many ways that we work to support a safe store environment.

Two men have been charged in Boston federal court in connection with a fatal drone strike in Jordan that killed three U.S. service members and injured dozens earlier this year. Abedini was further charged with providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization — the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The men allegedly conspired to evade U.S. sanctions and supply the Iranian government with a type of drone navigation technology used in the Jan. 28 drone attack at the Tower 22 base in Jordan, a U.S. military outpost, prosecutors said. The drone, launched by IRGC-backed militants, made impact near a shelter where some troops were sleeping and killed three U.S. service members. The two men allegedly conspired to procure goods and technology from Sadeghi’s place of work and exported them and supplied them to Iran to Abedini’s Iranian company SDRA.

Vice President Kamala Harris addressed young leaders Tuesday and encouraged them to "stay in the fight" as President-elect Donald Trump prepares for his second term. The vice president didn't mention Trump during her remarks, which garnered strong applause and cheers from the young audience. Harris won their state by more than 28 percentage points and Prince George's County by more than 74 percentage points. The vice president has largely remained out of the public eye since losing the general election to Trump in November. While Harris performed better among young voters overall, Trump made gains among voters under 30, particularly young men.

CLEVELAND — Fresh off a comfortable re-election victory in 2018, Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, considered running for president on a populist message aimed at the many working-class Midwest voters who had fled the Democratic Party in favor of Donald Trump. He spoke of a “post-Senate mission” to reorient Democrats as the “party of workers” in Middle America. “But I lost in large part because the national reputation of the Democratic Party is that we are sort of a lighter version of a corporation — a corporate party. And that’s one of the reasons that working-class voters have been willing to look away from the Democratic Party. In an attempt to reclaim the names of popular IKEA products, the Swedish tourist board launched a campaign, Discover the Originals, matching them to their namesakes back in 2022. After moving to Sweden in 2021 and finding himself in a home filled with IKEA furniture, Lynch was intrigued. “They were really, really small. WASHINGTON — Donald Trump is suing Ann Selzer, her polling firm, The Des Moines Register and the newspaper's parent company, Gannett, accusing them of consumer fraud, according to a copy of the filing reviewed by NBC News. The suit, filed Monday night in Polk County, Iowa, says it seeks “accountability for brazen election interference” over a Nov. 2 poll that showed Kamala Harris up 3 percentage points in Iowa. Selzer announced after the election that she would stop polling political contests and move into other ventures. The suit is the latest front in Trump's campaign against coverage by the media and analysts that he perceives as biased. The suspect, Natalie Rupnow, who police say killed herself during the rampage, was just 15 — but even more surprisingly, she was a girl. Mass shootings carried out by females are vanishingly rare. Of the 441 mass shootings in the United States from 1966 to 2022, just 4.3% were carried out by women, research from the Rockefeller Institute of Government, a think tank, shows. The shooting took place during a hearing over her planned eviction from a property on tribal lands. “Even when mass shootings involve neighbors, strangers, and police, women and children overwhelmingly pay the price,” the study said.

Prosecutors filed another murder charge Tuesday against the man accused of being the Gilgo Beach serial killer, bringing the number of alleged victims to seven, all women slain near New York City. A hair linked to the wife or daughter of suspect Rex Heuermann was found near the left wrist of 24-year-old victim Valerie Mack, according to court documents. He’s now been formally accused of murdering Mack, who worked as an escort before her skeletal remains were found in November 2000. The charge connected to Mack comes after Heuermann was accused by Suffolk County prosecutors of murdering Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, Amber Costello, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Sandra Costilla and Jessica Taylor. Heuermann, a New York City architect, was arrested in July 2023 and initially indicted in connection with the slayings of Barthelemy, Waterman and Costello.

Speaking on the campaign trail in late September, Trump announced his desire to turn Germany’s auto giants into American car firms. Rico Luman, senior sector economist for transport and logistics at Dutch bank ING, said Germany’s auto sector appears to be significantly exposed to Trump’s tariff threats. The potential imposition of tariffs on Germany’s carmakers, Luman said, would therefore make a bad situation even worse. “We are evaluating the tariffs Trump has proposed,” a spokesperson for Volkswagen told CNBC via email. Nonetheless, it is thought that Trump’s proposed tariffs on Canada and Mexico would bring an end to the USMCA.

WASHINGTON — As public concern has escalated over drones flying in the skies above New Jersey and other East Coast states, the White House wants Congress to pass legislation that would give greater authority to the federal, state and local governments to address drones that fly in U.S. airspace. “We do need better authorities to deal with that growing ecosystem of drones in U.S. airspace," National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said Tuesday in an interview on NBC's "TODAY" show. Israel was “closer to a ceasefire deal than we have ever been,” Defense Minister Israel Katz said during a closed-door parliamentary committee hearing Monday. Hamas would also see a large number of Palestinian prisoners released by Israel as part of the deal, the sources said. Hamas has not confirmed to NBC News or others’ reporting that it has agreed to Israeli troops in Gaza. "After the military and governmental power of Hamas in Gaza is defeated, Israel will securely control Gaza with full freedom of action" he posted on X, likening this outcome to Israel’s current control over the occupied West Bank. President-elect Donald Trump has threatened new tariffs on multiple countries as his second term approaches, after making tariffs a signature of his campaign. Now, Americans may have to actually brace for stagflation — something the nation’s economy hasn’t experienced in over half a century. Just over a month from now, Trump will have the power to levy tariffs on other nations at the flick of a pen. And once inaugurated on January 20, he has pledged to immediately impose a 25% tariff on Mexican and Canadian imports and increase tariffs on Chinese goods by an additional 10%. On the campaign trail, he also promised to levy a 10% to 20% tax on all imports and increase tariffs on Chinese goods by at least 60%.

Eleven Indian nationals were among 12 people found dead at a ski resort in the Caucasus Mountains of Georgia, officials said, in what may be a case of carbon monoxide poisoning. The ministry said Georgian police were investigating the deaths as negligent manslaughter, adding that a forensic team was working to determine the exact cause of death. Passport holders from 38 countries no longer need a visa at all, enabling them to stay in China for up to 30 days for business, tourism, family visits, exchange and transit purposes. The U.S. Agriculture Department must take immediate action to secure the benefits cards from which low-income families are being robbed of grocery funds, six Democratic senators urged in a letter. But unlike consumer credit and debit cards, SNAP EBT cards lack security features such as microchips or tap-to-pay technology. “It’s unacceptable that hackers and scam artists are stealing food benefits that low-income families rely on to put food on the table,” Wyden said in a statement to NBC News. California, set to start rolling them out in early 2025, is the furthest along, an Agriculture Department spokesperson said. “We’re calling on the USDA to stop dragging their feet and modernize EBT cards with the same technology we’ve used for years on credit and debit cards.”
