EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets' defense did its job — again. Zach Wilson and the offense? “I think we all just kept taking turns," Wilson said after the Jets' 27-6 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night. While Rodgers continues to work on his recovery in Southern California, he has twice joined the team for games. Robert Suarez followed Snell with a perfect eighth before Brendan Rodgers lined a single past Bogaerts at short off Josh Hader (1-3). Bogaerts then snuck a fly ball just inside the left field foul pole off Tyler Kinley (0-3) to win it. Dodgers right-hander Ryan Pepiot entered in the second inning and gave up one run on five hits over six innings. Toronto's Yusei Kikuchi (10-6) allowed one run and four hits in five-plus innings for his first win since Aug. 2.

Broadway tickets are incredibly expensive; eating out and parking have always been part of the calculation. “If you’re having a night out with the family for $1,000, I don’t think the congestion toll is going to be the decision maker,’’ she said. Some of the concern around the economic reverberations of congestion pricing stems from the presumption it will cost $23 to come into the designated zone during peak hours. about what the pricing — and exemptions from pricing — will be across constituencies. Childers grew up in East Kentucky in the shadow of the Baptist Church. At 15, Childers moved to a new school, where he coped with being the new kid by spending his lunch playing guitar. When he sings live, his eyes burn with the ferocity of a preacher, and fans hang on to every word. Childers went from opening shows with his band, the Food Stamps, to headlining the same venues in a little over a year. “There are a lot of artists out there trying to do the work,” Childers said.

Ever since Tyler Cestia left his son Thomas in his truck on a hot morning in June two years ago, he has felt, he said, like a cork bobbing in the ocean. At lunchtime, he drove to a restaurant with the auditor and then back to his office. That afternoon, it occurred to him that he didn’t remember seeing the babysitter that morning. WASHINGTON, July 24 (Reuters) - The U.S. Justice Department on Monday sued Texas over floating barriers installed by the state in the Rio Grande river to block migrants crossing from Mexico. "This floating barrier poses threats to navigation and public safety and presents humanitarian concerns." The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court in the Western District of Texas, seeks "to remove all structures and obstructions, including a floating barrier and all infrastructure related to the floating barrier, in the Rio Grande," according to the court filing. In recent months, National Guard troops have strung up razor wire to block migrants from crossing the Rio Grande. The number of migrants caught crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally has dropped since Biden implemented a restrictive new asylum policy in May.

His two-year-old boy, Thomas, asked to ride in the “big boy seat,” the child safety seat his older brother usually rode in, the one right behind the driver’s seat. Thomas died strapped into his safety seat, as his small body was simply overcome by the heat. Cestia’s truck had a rear seat reminder but, he said, he somehow didn’t notice it when he got to work. There are few signs that Trump will face political consequences internally, which undermines rule of law and threatens the future of the party, Luttig said. "Building the Republican campaign around the newly indicted front-runner is a colossal political miscalculation, as comedic as it is tragic for the country," said Luttig, an appointee of Republican President George H.W. Since federal prosecutors unsealed a 37-count indictment against Trump earlier this month, most candidates in the crowded Republican primary field have come to his defense. Some have said as president they would pardon Trump, should he be convicted in the case. Polling shows Trump holding a strong lead over his Republican rivals.

Blinken said tensions that sparked the action had been growing for months and added that the threat of internal turmoil could affect Moscow's military capabilities in Ukraine. Blinken described the turmoil as an "internal matter" for Putin. "It may be that Putin didn't want to debase himself to the level of negotiating directly with Prigozhin," Blinken said. "To the extent that the Russians are distracted and divided it may make their prosecution of aggression against Ukraine more difficult," Blinken told ABC. Pentagon's Ukraine accounting error revised up to $6.2 billion
  + stars: | 2023-06-20 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +1 min
June 20 (Reuters) - The Pentagon found it had overestimated the amount of funding for ammunition, missiles and other equipment it sent to Ukraine by $6.2 billion due to an accounting error, a spokesperson said on Tuesday, more than double the amount previously disclosed. The value of the accounting error was revised up from the $3 billion that was first reported by Reuters in May, the result of assigning a higher-than-warranted value on U.S. weaponry shipped to Ukraine. Additional funding was uncovered as Pentagon officials researched the situation more thoroughly and clarified protocols for valuing equipment based on Financial Management Regulation and Department of Defense policy, Pentagon deputy press secretary Sabrina Singh said. The $6.2 billion breaks down to $3.6 billion for fiscal year 2023 and $2.6 billion for fiscal year 2022, she said, adding that the errors did not impact the size of presidential drawdown authority or support for Ukraine. A combination of high humidity and temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius)could push heat index values above 115 in some parts of the South this weekend, contributing to atmospheric instability and creating conditions ripe for more harsh storms, weather service meteorologist Matt Mosier said. The agency issued excessive heat warnings affecting millions of people in parts of southern Louisiana and Texas, saying the heat index could reach 110 degrees. South Florida and Mississippi were under heat advisories for Friday. While Southern states are accustomed to high heat, extreme weather conditions have become more frequent across the country and with more intensity, driven by climate change, scientists say. At least three people were killed and dozens injured by tornadoes in Perryton, Texas, on Thursday.

WASHINGTON, June 12 (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden postponed a meeting with the head of NATO and skipped his other public events on Monday to undergo his second root canal procedure in as many days, the White House said. Biden reported tooth pain on Sunday, prompting an X-ray examination and root canal treatment by a team from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, according to a letter from his physician that was distributed to the press. Root canal procedures are common to treat infected teeth that cause pain, especially for older adults, said Asgeir Sigurdsson, endodontics chair at New York University's College of Dentistry. Biden previously underwent root canal procedures in the 1990s, as a senator overseeing the Supreme Court confirmation hearings for now Justice Clarence Thomas.
