Over that same period of time, the Trump campaign spent less than $230,000. But over the last two weeks, a dramatic shift from the Trump campaign has helped close the gap. It has spent a total of $13 million in those key states, compared to $16.5 million from the Harris campaign. But we’ve written before about how Republicans have cut into the Democrats’ fundraising edge, and these ad spending numbers show the fruits of that effort.

The bombshell ruling by Judge Aileen Cannon in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida — who was appointed to that position by Trump — ruling comes two days after a would-be assassin narrowly missed killing Trump during a campaign rally in western Pennsylvania. A federal judge in Florida on Monday dismissed the criminal classified documents case against former President Donald Trump and two co-defendants, ruling that the appointment of special counsel Jack Smith as prosecutor for the case violated the appointments clause of the U.S. Constitution. The ruling is just the latest in a series of controversial rulings and decisions by Cannon that have been seen as favoring Trump. The judge before adjourning Thursday afternoon set Trump's sentencing date for July 11 at 10 a.m. Trump's sentence could include fines and restitution, probation or other conditions — but a sentence of imprisonment is not off the table. Merchan has broad discretion to determine Trump's sentence, and he can factor all sorts of things into his final decision. The judge also previously accused Trump of trying to "intimidate" the court, prompting an expansion of the gag order that Trump would later violate 10 times. A Georgia appeals court Wednesday agreed to hear a bid by Donald Trump to disqualify Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from the former president's criminal election interference case. Trump still faces 10 criminal counts in Willis' case. That order grants Trump's application to appeal McAfee's disqualification ruling while Willis' case is ongoing. The appeals court gave Trump 10 days to file the notice of appeal.
