The Thai foreign ministry said a group of 266 Thais and an unspecified number of Filipinos and Singaporeans are being evacuated from Laukkaing in northern Shan State to the Myanmar-China border with help from the Myanmar authorities. The ministry did not specify the timing of the repatriation flights but said the group is travelling to the Chinese border on Sunday. Thai authorities earlier said some trapped in Myanmar were victims of human trafficking and some might be involved with telecom fraud gangs. The 16.5 million shares in Leonardo DRS making up the stake are worth about $344.2 million, according to Reuters calculations based on their closing price on Wednesday. Proceeds from the sale will be used to increase financial flexibility to finance possible investments and acquisitions, Leonard said in its statement announcing the sale. Index provider MSCI (MSCI.N) on Tuesday added Milan-listed Leonardo to its widely-followed MSCI ACWI stock index. Last week, Leonardo posted rising core earnings, revenues and new orders and confirmed its full-year guidance.

In a statement, the military said: "Based on intelligence information and an operational necessity, IDF forces are carrying out a precise and targeted operation against Hamas in a specified area in the Shifa Hospital." The military said: "The IDF forces include medical teams and Arabic speakers, who have undergone specified training to prepare for this complex and sensitive environment, with the intent that no harm is caused to the civilians." Annual pay growth picked up to 4.0%, from 3.6%, the fastest since early 2009 and just above market expectations of 3.9%. "Q3 was a perfect storm for wage pressures," said Sean Langcake, head of macroeconomic forecasting for Oxford Economics Australia. Much of the spike was due to a mandated 5.75% rise in the minimum wage which covers more than two million workers. Wage growth in the public sector accelerated to a 12-year high of 3.5%, while the private sector saw growth of 4.2% as firms fought to recruit and retain workers.

Yellen told a news conference there has been "very substantial progress" on three of the four areas under discussion by the 14 IPEF member countries, but there are "remaining issues" on trade. She said there had been "significant progress" on the trade pillar, "but it looks not to be complete, like something that is likely to require further work." People familiar with the talks said that an announcement of outcomes is more likely on clean energy cooperation and anti-corruption pillars of the IPEF. Both agreed that the U.S. and China should seek fair trade relations and a level playing field on which their companies can compete, Yellen added.
