The Republican document said the executive order contained “radical leftwing ideas” that hindered innovation. The most advanced AI systems could, in the worst case, “pose an extinction-level threat to the human species,” the report said. A related document said AI systems could be used to implement “high-impact cyberattacks capable of crippling critical infrastructure,” among a litany of risks. However, he worries that a repeal of Biden’s executive order would spell the end of the US government’s AI Safety Institute. It is possible that that would be the subject of a future Trump executive order,” said Strait.

New York CNN —“All we have to have is just a human form to be a victim.” That’s how lawyer Carrie Goldberg describes the risk of deepfake porn in the age of artificial intelligence. In the past year, targets of AI-generated, nonconsensual pornographic images have ranged from prominent women like Taylor Swift and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to high school girls. Goldberg said that for people targeted by AI-generated sexual images, the first step — however counterintuitive — should be to screenshot them. The fight to address nonconsensual explicit images and deepfakes has received rare bipartisan support. (AI-generated sexual images of children typically fall under child sexual abuse material laws.)

In an election season in which both parties sought out any possible edge, Democrats clung to one seemingly clear-cut advantage: Celebrities including Taylor Swift and Bruce Springsteen broke hard for that party, even as voters did not. The result was a split-screen of American celebrity — two sets of famous people for two halves of the country. But by and large, the biggest names in entertainment said Vice President Kamala Harris should be elected to the nation’s highest office.
