In volatile trading, the U.S.-listed shares of several cannabis firms rose immediately after the Senate vote. Investors expected it to exit the banking committee. An earlier version of the bill, the SAFE Banking Act, had failed to secure a Senate vote despite being passed seven times by the U.S House of Representatives. As a result, legal cannabis companies are denied access to financial services. To get it through the Senate banking committee is a major achievement," Boris Jordan, billionaire founder of Curaleaf Holdings, said in an interview.

Schwab slashes fees on more fixed income ETFs

REUTERS/Lee Jae-Won/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsSept 25 (Reuters) - Schwab Asset Management on Monday said it cut fees on the Schwab High-Yield Bond ETF (SCYB) and the Schwab U.S. That brings the fees for those products to the same level as its other fixed income ETF products. State Street slashed fees on ten SPDR ETFs in August, including that high-yield bond product. Schwab doesn't want these low-cost ETFs to end up as loss leaders for the company's array of asset management products, Bostet said. Schwab has nearly $300 billion in ETF assets under management, out of more than $920 billion managed by Schwab Asset Management overall.

REUTERS/Brendan McDermid/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNEW YORK, Sept 15 (Reuters) - Newly publicly traded company Arm Holdings is poised to be added to popular indexes such as the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100, although inclusion in the S&P 500 is unlikely, analysts said. Shares of the British chip designer closed up 24.7% in their Nasdaq debut on Thursday, giving it a market value of $65 billion. “The Nasdaq 100 is the most likely widely followed index for the company to get added into,” said Todd Rosenbluth, Head of Research at VettaFi. However, inclusion in the Nasdaq 100 may take time for Arm shares. Inclusion of Arm shares in the S&P 500, which is the standard benchmark for the U.S. stock market, is far less certain, analysts said.

Direxion rolls out Nvidia-focused ETFs for bulls and bears

The Direxion Daily NVDA Bull 1.5x Shares ETF (NVDU.O) seeks to deliver 1.5 times the price return of daily moves in Nvidia’s shares, which have more than tripled year-to-date. Meanwhile, the Direxion Daily NVDD Bear 1x Shares ETF allows bearish investors to profit when Nvidia’s shares decline. Single-stock ETFs made their debut in 2022, but only a handful of products have since been introduced by five firms, including Direxion. Because of their increased exposure, investors’ losses in leveraged exchange traded products can be staggering, analysts said. Only four leveraged single-stock ETFs currently have more than $50 million, according to Morningstar.

Best Stock-Fund Managers of 2022
  + stars: | 2023-01-07 | by ( Suzanne Mcgee | ) www.wsj.com   time to read: 1 min
Well at least it wasn’t as dreadful as the Great Depression. Or even the financial crisis of 2008. But for any mutual-fund manager trying to cope with the sea of red ink that flooded financial markets in 2022, that’s meager consolation. In a year when soaring interest rates and sky-high inflation left the S&P 500 index with a 19% loss and triggered an even worse year for the bond market, an estimated $8.2 trillion of stock-market wealth in the U.S. simply evaporated.

Let’s say you want to save your principal—or much of it—for your children. Here’s what the numbers look like.
The winner, James Davolos of Kinetics, doesn’t over-diversify. Many stock-fund managers can spin tales of how they triumphed over a bear market. Few, however, have encountered the kind of nightmare market they now are confronting. Only the most stubborn contrarians think that a lasting rebound has begun with the positive bounce taken in early October by U.S. stock indexes. Investors still face painful inflation, rising interest rates, nerve-racking volatility and geopolitical tensions.

It may not seem like much of a problem to come into a lot of money. But it requires a plan to make sure it lasts—and makes you happy.
