The man who died in a Colorado mine elevator accident was a 46-year-old father and tour guide there, officials said Friday as investigators try to understand what exactly occurred. The man killed was identified as Patrick Weier, who worked as a tour guide at the mine. Weier had a 7-year-old son and lived in Victor, a community of less than 400 in the area, officials said. Mikesell said the state does safety inspections and an official from that agency was on scene after the accident Thursday. “I know it has passed its safety inspections,” Mikesell said, but he did not have the dates during Friday’s news conference.

CNN —Federal regulators granted SpaceX its long-awaited license to move forward with a fifth uncrewed test launch of Starship, the most powerful rocket system ever constructed. The FAA had been expected to hand down a license for this test launch weeks ago. SpaceX has also publicly denied reports that the company violated wastewater regulations with the deluge system, which SpaceX says uses potable water. I went to Las Vegas, and there are a few things I would and wouldn't do again. Though Las Vegas is known for gambling, I didn't think playing the slots was worth it. Plus, from seeing Las Vegas in movies and TV shows, it always looked like a unique, exciting place. Although I felt like I saw a lot over my 72 hours in Las Vegas, I only scratched the surface. I realize that this old dad is not the hippest, but I thought I’d always kept an eye on the media my sons consume. On the surface, it seems easy to pinpoint what attracts our young men to manfluencers. That is the true draw to our young men, a place where they are the elite and above others. Since teenagers can be hard to meet head-on, try connecting with sons by praising them to others and through communication. We can lead our sons past the false trappings of fancy cars and money, and the cruelty perpetuated by these manfluencers.
