The plan focuses on Microsoft 365, a popular suite of productivity software used by thousands of businesses. This is a big risk for the company because Microsoft 365 has been an important source of revenue and growth, even without fancy new AI capabilities. The problem was that Microsoft salespeople started to pitch E5 as the last business software suite that customers would need to buy. AdvertisementA "spiritual successor"The generative AI boom, and Microsoft's early lead here, have increased the chances that a new 365 bundle will emerge soon. Microsoft has new AI tools that it can integrate with 365 and use that to persuade customers to upgrade their software bundle.

Lewinsky's role at Apple is expected to resemble that of Mahta Eghbali, who led copromotions for Apple TV+ films, TV, and sports and who left the company in 2023. Industry sources who work in branded entertainment said Apple TV+ has been stepping up efforts to use brands to promote its entertainment. Apple TV+ doesn't have an ad tier, but it's made a handful of hires from the TV business that have fueled speculation that it plans to introduce one, despite its long-held stance on customer privacy. Hedge funds are still leaning into the "Magnificent Seven" trade even with the broader stock market indexes recently hitting record highs. A May 24 note from the Goldman Sachs prime brokerage said that the Big Tech exposure at hedge funds reached a new high last week. The rising exposure is caused by both trading activity and higher share prices for the Big Tech stocks, particularly Nvidia . Net flows into the Magnificent Seven stocks have been positive in May, according to the Goldman prime brokerage data, though last week was more neutral. The five biggest stocks in the S & P 500 — all of which are members of the Magnificient 7 — account for roughly 27% of the S & P 500, according to Strategas Research Partners.

For the first time since 2009, the box office doesn't have a Marvel film to kick off the summer movie season — and it shows. This year, the headline film for the first summer weekend was Universal's "The Fall Guy." The result could send the 2024 summer box office down as much as $800 million compared to 2023, according to Comscore's Paul Dergarabedian, and have ripple effects for the whole year. At present, analysts believe the summer movie season will exceed $3 billion in ticket sales, but just barely. Before Covid, the summer box office consistently topped more than $4 billion.

The "Listen to Michigan" campaign was originally conceived in a memo drafted by Waleed Shahid, a progressive strategist and former spokesman for the left-wing group Justice Democrats.
