CVS Health , UnitedHealth Group and Cigna sued the Federal Trade Commission on Tuesday, claiming that the agency's case against drug supply chain middlemen over high insulin prices in the U.S. is unconstitutional. The FTC's in-house administrative process initiates a proceeding before an administrative judge who would hear the case. FTC commissioners then vote on that opinion. The Tuesday complaint argues that the FTC's process violates the companies' due process rights under the Fifth Amendment. The complaint comes a month after CVS, UnitedHealth Group and Cigna demanded FTC Chair Lina Khan and two other commissioners recuse themselves from the agency's in-house suit.

CNN —Victims and family members of those killed in the 2022 mass shooting at the LGBTQIA+ Club Q in Colorado Springs have sued the El Paso County Board of Commissioners and others, alleging authorities could have prevented the shooting if they had enforced the state’s “red flag law” against the gunman. One was filed by the families of the dead victims and five victims themselves – a second was filed by Barrett Hudson, who sustained seven gunshot wounds. “The shooter had a history of violent threats and behavior that clearly warranted intervention,” the suits say. The suits allege that, despite the shooter’s “history of violent threats and behavior that clearly warranted prevention … El Paso County law enforcement failed to invoke the Red Flag Law, in light of policies against its use.”In 2019, a year before the law came into effect, the Board of El Paso County Commissioners approved a resolution to designate the county a so-called Second Amendment Sanctuary. A defamation case against Kari Lake brought by Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer has been settled, representatives for both parties confirmed Sunday to NBC News. Richer, a Republican, filed a claim in June 2023 saying that Lake falsely accused him of "intentionally sabotaging the election" after she lost the 2022 Arizona governor's race. While the indictments don’t specify how the men came under suspicion, the attorney for one of Alcala’s alleged victims has said she reported an incident to the FBI, and one of McKnight’s alleged victims has said she reported him to his supervisor. Seven of the counts specify he took photographs of nude images he found on the victims’ phones, which were found on McKnight’s cell phone. In two of the incidents, McKnight took the alleged victims’ phones after arresting them, the indictment says. One of the former state trooper’s alleged victims described her experience as “really violating” in an interview with KFVS.
