A zero percent inflation target might be popular, but it would represent a sharp departure – one that mainstream economists warn would backfire. “Stable inflation is an oxymoron because it means it’s not stable,” Shelton told CNN in a recent interview. In fact, one reason the Fed set its inflation target at 2% is because it’s safely away from that deflation-danger zone. A zero inflation target would mean a path right on the edge. New York CNN —One day after The Washington Post announced it would not endorse a presidential candidate in this year’s election or in the future, its billionaire owner remains silent as the newspaper’s staff are in turmoil. A source with knowledge told CNN on Friday that an endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris had been drafted before it was squashed. A Black man who was fatally shot four years ago by a now-fired white police officer in Columbus, Ohio, complied with commands and was wrongly killed as he walked out of a garage, prosecutors said Thursday. “Officer Coy was not justified in shooting Andre Hill,” prosecutor Renee Amlin told the jury. Hill then walked toward the officers while holding his cellphone when Coy fired his weapon. Detweiler said she and Coy walked toward the dark garage and had “no idea” why Hill was inside it. Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther has said the shooting was unwarranted and that officers on the scene failed to provide medical assistance.

Another criticized a Minnesota state agency for failing to ensure there were no conflicts of interest in taxpayer-funded mental health and addiction programs.
