The allegations follow a three-year investigation by Mexico's antitrust regulator, Cofece, and the company now has 45 days to provide arguments and evidence in its defense. Walmart de Mexico (WALMEX.MX), known as Walmex, was first told in 2020 that it was under review for possible antitrust behavior. The retailer last year posted revenue of more than 819 billion pesos ($45 billion) from its operations in Mexico and Central America.

On Thursday, the U.S. said it was restarting deportations of Venezuelans who cross the U.S.-Mexico border unlawfully. Mexico, on Friday, said it was seeking to return migrants to Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela. A record of 417,000 migrants have crossed the Darien Gap this year, more than double the number in all of last year. "Crossing the Darien is hell," said Panama President Laurentino Crotizo in a statement, after touring the area via plane with Costa Rica counterpart Rodrigo Chaves. In the last three weeks, more than 27,000 migrants have been "persuaded to get down from trains," INM said.

Voyager filed for bankruptcy in July last year, becoming a casualty of a dramatic fall in prices that had shaken the cryptocurrency sector. "CFTC commissioners are now voting on whether to approve an enforcement action against him within days," said the Bloomberg report. MEXICO CITY, Sept 8 (Reuters) - Mexico's finance ministry expects economic growth to slow in 2024 to around 2.4% from some 3% this year, according to draft budget forecasts seen by Reuters on Friday. The ministry did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the forecasts, which were in a draft document and confirmed by a source familiar with the matter. The draft was not dated, but the source said the figures were up to date. The ministry is due to present the official 2024 budget to lawmakers in Congress later on Friday. According to the document, the government estimates that headline inflation will ease to 3.8% at the end of 2024 from 4.5% at the close of this year.

Arevalo won a surprise second place in the initial round in June, finishing close behind Torres, a former first lady. CID Gallup's poll found that 54% of respondents considered Torres "corrupt" and a "liar," compared to 15% and 13%, respectively, for Arevalo. Arevalo led the poll in every age group, region, and education level.
