The modest revenue growth announced Thursday as part of Apple’s October-December results ended four consecutive quarters of year-over-year sales declines. I was among the first group of journalists to try the Vision Pro last year and walked away impressed with the quality of the picture but ultimately not sure that people would want to wear it. The devices were intended to create immersive experiences for getting things done by moving the body instead of typing on keyboards. Sales of mixed reality and virtual reality headsets fell 8.3 percent last year, according to the research firm IDC, though they may rebound this year with Apple entering the market.

Immersed will merge with Maquia Capital Acquisition Corp (MAQC.O), a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), in a deal that values the Austin, Texas-based firm at about $150 million, the sources said. As part of the deal, Immersed is raising bridge financing through convertible notes from investors including Intel Corp (INTC.O) Chief Executive Pat Gelsinger, former football player Tim Tebow, and All Blue Capital. Immersed expects to have access to the proceeds raised by the SPAC, barring redemptions, the sources said. Founded in 2017 by software engineer Renji Bijoy, Immersed develops spatial computing software that enables remote working for employees. After the deal closes, Immersed will be listed on the Nasdaq under the ticker "AIMR", the sources said.

Apple has opened applications for Vision Pro developer kits ahead of its "early 2024" launch. The real answer is the developer kit for Apple's upcoming $3,500 Vision Pro headset. Other developers will use the visionOS simulator that Apple has made available for building Vision Pro apps. Apple unveiled the Vision Pro in early June, and says the product will be available early next year for purchase on its website and at US Apple store locations. The Vision Pro will be the company's first major new product in over eight years, with a starting price of $3,499.
