There’s another connection between Canada, asthma and my family — and it’s a somewhat accidental one. Unfortunately, the challenges that my mom faced getting asthma medication persisted. There were times that my mother didn’t fill her prescriptions for her asthma medication out of concern over the cost. Research shows that if you have a parent with asthma, you have a 25% likelihood of developing asthma yourself. Still, I remain vigilant because there is no cure for asthma and my family is so susceptible to its ravages.

CNN —Sales of new electric vehicles have started to slow, but the opposite is happening with used EVs. The used car sales website Carvana saw its used EV sales more than double since last year. While increases in used EV sales are huge, they still make up a small portion of overall used vehicle sales. Used EVs still cost more, on average, than used gas-powered vehicles, but they cost a lot less than new EVs. While prices for new EVs average around $63,000, prices for used ones average around $36,000, according to Cars.com.

The scene of decay and demise is a painting by LA-based artist Sayre Gomez, called “Family Room,” that brings together disparate elements of his hometown in an unnervingly photorealist style. The work forms part of his solo show “Heaven N’ Earth,” at art dealer Xavier Hufkens’ flagship gallery in Brussels, Belgium, exploring the complex dichotomies of the urban landscape. ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — A Texas company has reached a multimillion-dollar settlement with the federal government and the state of New Mexico to address air pollution concerns in the largest oil and gas producing region in the United States. New Mexico Environment Secretary James Kenney said he's concerned about the compliance rate for companies operating in New Mexico, describing it as terrible. The civil complaint targeting Apache comes nearly a year after federal and state officials announced a similar agreement with another producer in the Permian Basin over violations. In 2022, an investigation by The Associated Press showed 533 oil and gas facilities in the region were emitting excessive amounts of methane. In all, state officials said the recent consent decrees with energy companies cover about 15% of oil and gas production in New Mexico and about 9% of the wells.
