SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Victor Wembanyama made the tying basket with 20 seconds left in regulation, the opening basket in overtime and finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds in his first NBA victory, helping the San Antonio Spurs beat the Houston Rockets 126-122 on Friday night. Wembanyama's layup while defended by Jabari Smith Jr. made it 111-111 all and his jumper sent San Antonio to a 6-0 run to begin OT. Wembanyama met Smith at the rim to block an attempted dunk and then rushed back on the court to block Smith’s floater. San Antonio committed seven turnovers in the third quarter. Wembanyama had five points in the opening three minutes after a slow start in his NBA debut.

Isaac Okoro added 18, while Garland contributed 15 as the Cavaliers shot 46.8 percent. CNN —Taylor Swift broke sports media when she showed up to the Kansas City Chiefs game on Sunday, seated next to tight end Travis Kelce’s mother, Donna. The outing capped a frenzied period of speculation in which the rumor mill had been working overtime to speculate whether Swift and Kelce were, in fact, an item. Swift has been incredibly vocal about how much she dislikes when people speculate about her dating life. “I feel like watching my dating life has become a bit of a national pastime,” she told Rolling Stone in 2014. “Taylor is very focused on work right now and hanging out with her girlfriends,” a source told People magazine.

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday announced a $6 million penalty against Goldman Sachs for providing incomplete and inaccurate trading information to the regulator. The banking giant made more than 22,000 deficient "blue sheet" submissions over a roughly 10-year period, affecting at least 163 million transactions, according to an SEC order. The SEC routinely sends these electronic requests to brokers for securities trading information to identify buyers and sellers. The firm is "pleased to have resolved this matter," Abbey Collins, a spokesperson for Goldman Sachs, told CNBC. But the SEC also found that Goldman had insufficient internal processes to verify the accuracy of its blue sheet submissions.

Currently the front-runner for the GOP nomination, Trump has already pleaded not guilty in a case he’s slammed as 2024 election interference. Meadows wants to move his case to federal court, where he may have a better chance of having it dismissed. Biden has nothing to do with the trial date being set. (The fact that television coverage is not allowed in federal court could be important here). Ron DeSantis and South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott are among the candidates who have equivocated over Trump’s legal quagmire – preferring to attack Democrats for “weaponizing” justice.

The new indictment against Donald Trump refers to six unindicted co-conspirators. The last time a prosecutor tried flipping people close to Trump, it didn't go too well. According to the new federal indictment against him, brought by Justice Department Special Counsel Jack Smith, Trump had six criminal co-conspirators. Smith is also overseeing a separate prosecution against Trump and two alleged co-conspirators related to the ex-president's hoarding of government documents. For decades, “the rule of law and a commitment to democracy has kept technology in its proper place,” Smith said. Microsoft vice chair and president Brad Smith speaks at the Semafor World Economic Summit on April 12, 2023 in Washington, DC. That framework, which Congress first ordered with legislation in 2020, covers ways that companies can use AI responsibly and ethically. Such an order would leverage the US government’s immense purchasing power to shape the AI industry and encourage the voluntary adoption of best practices, Smith said. CNN —Brooks Koepka won the PGA Championship for the third time on Sunday, clinching his fifth major title at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York. A commanding final round showing saw the American finish on nine-under par, two shots ahead of compatriot Scottie Scheffler and Norway’s Viktor Hovland, who played his part in a pulsating final day duel. In doing so, he joins Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as only the third player to win the PGA Championship three or more times in the strokeplay era.
SEOUL, April 27 (Reuters) - For the first time since the 1980s a U.S. Navy nuclear-armed ballistic missile submarine (SSBN) will visit South Korea to help demonstrate Washington's resolve to protect the country from a North Korean attack. The visit was announced in a joint declaration during a summit between South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and U.S. President Joe Biden in Washington on Wednesday. "That could be a huge pressure on North Korea, because usually they don’t share where those submarines are," said Moon Keun-sik, a retired South Korean submarine captain and squadron leader. The United States has pledged to deploy more so-called "strategic assets" such as aircraft carriers, submarines, and long-range bombers to South Korea to deter North Korea, which has developed increasingly powerful missiles that can hit targets from South Korea to the mainland United States. The submarine visit is also seen as a way to reassure South Korea and quell talk in Seoul of developing homegrown nuclear weapons.
