Abigail Spanberger decided against seeking a fourth term, instead launching a campaign for governor in 2025. Democratic Rep. Burger King, Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut have all pulled onions from a portion of their restaurants following reports of a “severe” E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounders. The removal comes two days after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention first announced in a food safety alert on its website that there was an E. coli outbreak across multiple states linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounders. Brands spokesperson also confirmed onions were removed from some of its Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC locations. “As we continue to monitor the recently reported E. coli outbreak, and out of an abundance of caution, we have proactively removed fresh onions from select Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC restaurants,” the spokesperson said. Outside groups have poured an astounding $1.1 billion into the presidential race with less than two weeks to go before Election Day, an NBC News analysis found, surpassing the record set during the 2020 election. To put the current level of outside spending into perspective, the $1 billion-plus figure dwarfs the gross domestic product of more than a dozen nations. Outside groups have spent $464 million in support of her and more than $393 million in opposition. By comparison, Trump has benefited from $75 million of outside spending supporting him, while facing $124 million in outside spending against him. Add that to the more than $1 billion in independent expenditures, and the price tag of the presidential campaign reaches $2 billion.

The department issued a final report this summer confirming at least 973 Native American children died while attending these federal boarding schools. At least 18,000 children were taken from their families and forced to attend more than 400 Indian boarding schools across 37 states or then-territories between 1819 and 1969.
