Clips of the exchange and other debate moments impressed Trump, sources told CNN, and played a role in Vance securing a race-defining endorsement from the former president. Vance, now the Republican nominee for vice president, will join his Democratic counterpart, Minnesota Gov. Vance, at just 40 years old and two years into his political career, is still a largely unproven commodity. It’s a skill that matters deeply to Trump, one Vance first picked up in the Marines when he was assigned to the public affairs office. While Harris and Walz have approached the press with extreme caution, Vance has made it a point to appear accessible.

It is the world’s first 3D-printed hotel, says El Cosmico owner Liz Lambert and the partners behind the project — Austin, Texas-based 3D printing company ICON and architects Bjarke Ingels Group. The “ink” of this 3D printer is a special cement-based material called Lavacrete, a proprietary mixture designed for strength, affordable scale, and printability. Bhatnagar pointed to how Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation will help India's Tata Electronics to build the country's first 12-inch wafer fab in Gujarat. However, analysts said India first needs to learn the ropes before it can compete with the East Asian giant, especially since its semiconductor manufacturing industry is still at a very nascent stage. "India is far behind China in semiconductor manufacturing. Earlier in September, the U.S. Department of State announced it will partner with the India Semiconductor Mission and India's electronics and IT government body to improve the global semiconductor value chain. Indrawati hopes to avoid "the middle-income trap" — an economic development situation where growing economies stagnate at middle-income levels and are unable to advance to the ranks of high-income countries. For the eleventh consecutive year, Switzerland topped the list as the world's most talent-competitive country, according to the IMD 2024 World Talent Ranking, signaling its strong and stable talent pool despite the rapidly changing global work landscape. The ranking measures how economies around the world perform when it comes to sustaining their pool of talent. This data is broken down into three buckets: investment in and development of homegrown talent, appeal (the extent to which a country taps into the overseas talent pool) and readiness (the availability of skills and competencies in the talent pool), according to the report. Switzerland remains at the forefront of talent competitiveness, topping the list since the ranking's inception in 2014. Singapore's steady rise is driven by the readiness of its talent pool, rated as No.

AdvertisementA power pendulum is constantly swinging back and forth between employers and employees, guided by market forces and an ever-changing economy. Other times, employers have the power to set workplace norms, and workers are better off keeping their heads down. The cyclical nature of shifting workplace power does swing back and forth between employers and employees, but not automatically. AdvertisementThink of it as a supply-demand phenomenon: Whenever the labor market gets tight, and employer demand for workers exceeds the number of available workers, employees gain greater choice and, thus, power. Dorothea LangeA mere three decades later, however, the power pendulum swung back toward workers with The New Deal, which included unemployment relief and minimum wage legislation, among other worker rights.

CNN —Germany has begun new controls at all of its land borders as part of a crackdown on migration, placing restrictions on a wide area of free movement known as the Schengen Zone and stirring anger among its European neighbors. From Monday, as well as existing border controls with Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Poland, Germany will now also have internal border controls with France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark. Berlin will have the power to reject people at all land borders, a statement from the Interior Ministry said. The move marks how far Germany has shifted in recent years on the flashpoint issue of migration. Under European Union rules, member states have the ability to temporarily reintroduce border control at internal borders in the event of a serious threat to public policy or internal security.

The Trump campaign announced in August that it had been hacked. Later that month, federal officials said that Iran was behind the effort, which was part of an apparent hack-and-leak operation to spread files stolen from Trump’s campaign. Federal officials reiterated in a press call last week that the U.S. intelligence community believes Iran wants to hurt former President Trump’s campaign, whereas Russia wants to boost Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris.
