It’s been about a decade since Brown’s research popularized the term “gray divorce” to describe this phenomenon – something that used to be a rarity, but now has become much more common. They dubbed it “the gray divorce revolution.”And it’s still going strong, both for celebrities and everyday people. Rather than “gray divorce,” Myres says she prefers the term “silver splitters,” because it also alludes to the silver lining of starting fresh, no matter how old you are. Financial difficulties after “gray divorce” are a problem Brown says she and other researchers have been studying, too. In the first couple of years after a “gray divorce,” Brown says, about 50% of people end up living alone.

CNN —Legendary singer Tony Bennett, best known for singing “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” has died, according to his longtime publicist, Sylvia Weiner. New York CNN —Just ahead of World Refugee Day, 41 multinational companies on Monday publicly pledged to provide jobs, training and connections to work opportunities for more than 250,000 refugees in Europe. What different companies are doingAmong the companies that are making new pledges this week, many have already been hiring or training refugees in Europe over the past year. ISS, for instance, has already hired 500 refugees in Europe — a majority of them Ukrainian women — since March of last year. CNN —Anna Sorokin, the fake heiress Netflix’s “Inventing Anna” is based on, was released from ICE detention on Friday. The judge’s ruling also said ICE may use an ankle monitor to keep tabs on Sorokin. A spokesman for ICE said Sorokin was being released Friday after the judge’s ruling. Sorokin was released from jail in February 2021 after serving nearly four years on theft and larceny charges. Earlier this year an attorney representing Sorokin told NBC News that he feared her deportation when he couldn’t reach her, but word later emerged that she was still in ICE custody.
