Activists were on Capitol Hill this week to urge support for Ukraine. Insider attended a meeting between the activists and Sen. Markwayne Mullin, an Oklahoma Republican. Mullin supports aid for Ukraine, but staff warned that calls from constituents have been "mixed." A majority of Republican lawmakers are no longer so sure, at least publicly, that defending Kyiv from the Kremlin is in America's strategic interests. Military promotions, including for the chief of naval operations, have been held up by a single senator because of abortion policy. "It could make our response significantly less effective" and imperil aid to both Israel and Ukraine.
