Genetics likely played a large part in his health, an aging expert told Business Insider. Munger was a fan of donuts (in moderation), peanut brittle , and Diet Coke, and he avoided exercise as best he could, he said. "I'm eating this good peanut brittle," he told CNBC during an interview in February 2023. Munger favored peanut brittle by See's Candy, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway. AdvertisementThe only exception to that was when he served in the US Army Air Force for three years and had to exercise, Munger said.

Today, Berkshire Hathaway is massive conglomerate worth north of $785 billion with businesses and investments all around the world. "I did not think we'd ever have … so many hundreds of billions in Berkshire," Munger, the former vice chairman of Berkshire, said in his final interview with CNBC's Becky Quick just a few weeks before passing away at the age of 99. "It was an amazing occurrence," said Munger in bits of the interview aired by CNBC on Tuesday evening. Munger attributed the success of he and Buffett, 93, to two reasons. In addition, we were given much longer time to run than most people, because something kept us alive in our 90s.

Tennessee's state House map was also challenged in the lawsuit, though the state did defend those boundaries. Ultimately, the three judges panel upheld the House map and ordered the Tennessee Senate to come up with a new district layout by Jan. 31, 2024. “Today's court ruling against the gerrymandered state Senate map is a clear win for the Tennessee Constitution,” said Democratic Sens. The Tennessee Democratic Party said Wednesday that it would continue fighting the ruling on upholding the House map. (AP) — Warren Buffett's company has reported a nearly $13 billion loss in the third quarter as the paper value of its investments fell, but the companies it owns — particularly the insurers — generally performed well. Berkshire Hathaway said Saturday that it lost $12.8 billion, or $8,824 per Class A share, in the quarter. That's significantly bigger than the $2.8 billion loss, or $1,907 per Class A share, that it reported a year ago. A year ago, the insurers reported a $1.1 billion loss in the third quarter. The biggest driver in that increase in expenses was a $1.3 billion loss related to wildfires at its PacifiCorp unit.

Warren Buffett and his longtime business partner Charlie Munger almost never butt heads, but there has been one rare area of disagreement between the two investment legends. Costco has grown from less than $5 a share in the early 1980s to more than $560 a share today. 'Shoot me first' As Munger's obsession over Costco grew stronger over the years, Buffett learned to make lighthearted jokes about it. "Charlie said, 'I would like to give, once more, my speech on the virtues of Costco — with illustrations.' I kind of used them up between Costco and Apple," Buffett once said.

“We are suing to stop the federal government from playing politics with the health of Tennessee women,” Skrmetti said in a statement. In 2021, the Biden administration reversed a ban on abortion referrals by clinics that accept Title X funds. Under the latest rule, clinics cannot use federal family planning money to pay for abortions, but they must offer information about abortion at the patient's request. Then, last year, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, allowing many Republican-led states like Tennessee to impose abortion bans. Tennessee has increasingly called for rejecting federal funding rather than comply with requirements over LGBTQ+ rights, abortion access and other hot-button issues.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — LGBTQ+ and civil rights advocates on Tuesday filed a federal lawsuit challenging Tennessee's aggravated prostitution statute, arguing that the law stems from the decades-old AIDS scare and discriminates against HIV-positive people. The law was later reclassified in 2010 as a “violent sexual offense," requiring those convicted to face lifetime sex offender registration. Another plaintiff has struggled for years to find housing that complies with Tennessee's sex offender registry requirements. A separate plaintiff is currently incarcerated for violating a sex offender registry requirement and has chosen not to seek parole despite being eligible because complying with registry requirements has become so onerous. According to the complaint, 83 people are currently registered for aggravated prostitution in Tennessee.

Analyst Anthony Pettinari upgraded the packaging company to buy from neutral. "Sentiment on SEE (and the broader packaging space) has been highly negative given share price weakness, persistent vol challenges, and downward earnings revisions," Pettinari said in a Monday note. Sealed Air's stock has plunged about 37% this year as it navigates a post-Covid lower growth environment.
