Buying a used Ioniq, which is produced in South Korea and Indonesia, wouldn't earn him $7,500 off through a federal tax credit. "I ran the numbers — what it would be without the leasing credit and with the leasing credit — and that kind of put me over the top and that was the main thing of why I went in that direction," he said. For a $50,000 EV and a 36-month lease, Chesbrough estimates the full $7,500 tax credit equates to $222 in monthly savings for a consumer. "It also allows them to level the playing field against competitors who get the full tax credit when purchasing." I wouldn't call it leveling the playing field," Watson said of leasing qualifying for the $7,500 tax credit.

Yet, even as layoffs in tech and beyond mount, employees are pushing back against leaders who issue return-to-office mandates. Club holdings Salesforce (CRM), Nvidia (NVDA) and Humana (HUM) are the subjects of fresh Wall Street research. The news: It's all about margins at Salesforce, Wells Fargo analysts wrote in a research note Tuesday. Bottom Line The Disney quarter had a lot to offer for the bulls. In the current quarter, management expects operating results to improve by $200 million, pegging losses at around $800 million, which is in line with estimates on Factset. By extension, Disney is reorganizing into three core business segments: Disney Entertainment, an ESPN division, and a Parks, Experiences and Products unit. Iger wants Disney to be more efficient, and he believes this overhaul will make for a more cost-effective and streamlined approach to its operations. Eli Lilly (LLY) reported mixed fourth-quarter results Thursday morning, but we're looking through the stock's post-earnings sell-off because there's no change to the pharmaceutical giant's bright long-term potential. Bottom line There's definitely some noise surrounding Eli Lilly's results, including sales of its key diabetes drug Mounjaro. Eli Lilly began its rolling submission to the FDA in late 2022. None of them undercut the multiyear Eli Lilly investment story, making Thursday's stock sell-off an attractive buying opportunity. It is a "very complicated" process to make that kind of drug, Ricks said, so it cannot just scale up overnight.
Eli Lilly 's (LLY) attempt to receive accelerated regulatory approval for its Alzheimer's drug donanemab has been rejected. Eli Lilly said it will keep working with the FDA to "evaluate the fastest pathway" for donanemab to reach patients. According to projections from J & J and rival Medtronic (MDT), the robotics market captures a low 2% to 3% of global procedures. In an economic slowdown, J & J is a solid name to own that can outperform the broader market. We also like that J & J has consistently raised its dividend. In this article DIS Follow your favorite stocks CREATE FREE ACCOUNTBob Iger, CEO, The Walt Disney Company Scott Mlyn | CNBCDisney reappointed Bob Iger as its chief executive recently, abruptly replacing his hand-picked successor Bob Chapek, and giving Iger an early goal — find a new replacement during the next two years. Iger's attention has quickly turned to the other part of his mandate from the board — the immediate challenges facing Disney's business, such as the company's reorganization, cost structure and the future growth of its streaming business. He is the chairman of Disney's studio content and spearheaded the integration of Iger's acquisitions into Disney's overall content pipeline. D'Amaro is head of Disney's parks, experiences and products, the same position Chapek held before becoming CEO. Rebecca Campbell, who's currently in charge of Disney's international content and operations, is another candidate that Iger may favor, people familiar with the matter said.
Bob Iger, who returned last week as CEO of Disney (DIS), told employees Monday he intends to maintain the company's current hiring freeze. As shareholders for the Club, we are pleased to see Iger taking steps to fix the missteps of his predecessor. The faster Iger can show improvement in terms of streaming profitability — or at least reduce losses in the near term — the faster we will see a turn higher in Disney's stock price. "I think what Hyundai, Kia and Genesis have done is they've really compressed that time frame. Sales of Hyundai and Kia vehicles have risen roughly 61% since 2010 to more than 1.4 million vehicles in the U.S. last year. LMC forecasts Hyundai's sales of all-electric vehicles are expected to represent 9.2% of the U.S. EV market this year. While sales are expected to grow that percentage is seen as the company's peak until at least 2024 or 2025, when the new Georgia plant is set to come online. Munoz said the new Georgia plant is expected to produce 300,000 vehicles annually, with the potential to reach 500,000 in the future.

In response to that drop-off, both chains and independents are working to address the cost factor without alienating diners. Aaron Allen, founder and CEO of restaurant consultancy Aaron Allen & Associates, compared restaurant chains to oil tankers and independents to speedboats. Kate Bruce, owner of The Buttery Bar in Brooklyn, said she's been facing higher costs for everything from labor to cooking oil to energy. Portillo's restaurant chain CEO Michael Osanloo said independents do have greater flexibility when it comes to changing prices. Two big earnings themes When TJX releases fiscal 2023 third-quarter results after Wednesday's closing bell, it'll mark the first time the company will report earnings as a CNBC Investing Club name. TJX saw its pretax margin collapse to 0.3% during its pandemic-marred fiscal 2021, down from 10.6% in its prior fiscal year. He touted the company's "landmark" second-quarter results on Aug. 5, 2021 that included the used car retailer's first-ever quarterly net profit. Analyst Adam Jonas cited deterioration in the used car market and a volatile funding environment for the change. Jonas said "a deterioration in the used car market combined with a volatile interest rate/funding environment" made for a "material risk" to the company. Used vehicle prices have so far remained steady, but that may not last long, as the wholesale costs continue to decline. The average used listing price for a used vehicle is stabilizing but remains near record highs of more than $28,200, according to Cox Automotive.

If you want an idea of how ridiculous the book publishing industry is, look no further than the proposed Penguin Random House-Simon & Schuster merger. Penguin Random House has said it would appeal. watch nowIn this turbulent market, opportunities abound, according to JPMorgan's Mary Callahan Erdoes. Stocks have been trading in a bear market this year as investors navigate inflation, Federal Reserve interest rate hikes and talk of a potential recession. A black swan is an unexpected event that results in panicked selling, while a white swan is a predictable crisis that can be addressed. Specifically, Erdoes sees a tremendous amount of opportunity in China, although she admits the country's complex market might not be for everyone. On Wednesday, the Bank of England purchased U.K. bonds in an effort to calm the market chaos.
