The dustup in Fulton County is just one example of the election certification fights already cropping up in battleground states, from Georgia to Michigan to Nevada this year. Certification fights also popped up in 2022 and in 2020, though certification ultimately moved ahead in each of those instances. “They don’t like me.”But by early 2024, she was being sworn in to serve on her local election board. “The other issues that are going on or have gone in Fulton County I think are irrelevant.”Representatives for Fulton County declined to comment. The State Election Board is also considering changes that could allow board members to conduct inquiries and demand documents before certification.

It could also have a major impact on House and Senate races. We talked by email about the state of play for the House and Senate and how the shake-up in the presidential race might change things. PATHE: House races are typically more nationalized than Senate races because the candidates are lesser known; therefore, it’s harder for them to separate themselves from their party and the top of the ticket. WOLF: The presidential primary process is over, but we’re still in the thick of statewide primaries for House and Senate races. One’s a fast talker with fancy footwork and a steel-trap memory. On Sunday, about 50 professional servers came from around London to compete in an annual waiters’ race through the heart of Soho. But panache, pizazz and an essential and ineffable waiterliness mattered much more. “This is about style as much as it is about going fast,” said the organizer, Takashi O’Rourke. The waiters had to get around a course lined with drunk and (for the most part) orderly crowds as quickly as they could.

“2024 is the first American presidential election year at this intersection of election-related mis- and disinformation and the rapid growth of AI generated content. Misinformation spread rapidly through Pennsylvania during the 2020 election as the swing state faced baseless allegations about voting in Pennsylvania, perceived unfairness toward Republican poll-watchers and violations of election rules. Sabir said the misinformation fighting efforts will target voters where they are, including social media, billboards and radio ads. Fontes was recognized in May for his office’s work creating election security tabletop training exercises aimed to protect the state’s election infrastructure. Bellamy said it’s critical to fight misinformation going into this election, and elections are gaining a lot of negative attention.

The Youngest Pandemic Children Are Now in School, and StrugglingThe pandemic’s babies, toddlers and preschoolers are now school-age, and the impact on them is becoming increasingly clear: Many are showing signs of being academically and developmentally behind. But the impact on the youngest children is in some ways surprising: They were not in formal school when the pandemic began, and at an age when children spend a lot of time at home anyway. Researchers said several aspects of the pandemic affected young children — parental stress, less exposure to people, lower preschool attendance, more time on screens and less time playing. The youngest students’ performance is “in stark contrast” to older elementary school children, who have caught up much more, the researchers said. Sarrah Hovis, a preschool teacher in Roseville, Mich., has seen plenty of the pandemic’s impact in her classroom.

Read previewWhen Rudy Giuliani filed for bankruptcy late last year, it gave him some room to breathe. They all flowed into a federal bankruptcy court, where creditors could negotiate for whatever funds the aging former New York City mayor had left. But if the judge were to agree with the creditors and appoint a Chapter 11 bankruptcy trustee, Giuliani would lose control of his own financial life. Nvidia just formed a bearish technical pattern that is signaling a reversal ahead. The red-hot chipmaker dropped 3.5% on Thursday after temporarily unseating Microsoft as the most valuable public company in the U.S. Thursday's decline marked a "bearish engulfing" pattern that often signals that the prior upward momentum is waning. Others believe the Nvidia bearish engulfing pattern, while ominous, isn't significant enough yet. The confirmation of a bearish engulfing pattern sometimes depends on the size of the candles. "The reversal of the shares was 11 cents away from clearly registering a bearish engulfing pattern.

Now that former President Donald J. Trump is a convicted criminal, the Democratic Party finds itself wrestling with a choice that will help define this year’s presidential race: Should it try to push his felonies to the center of the election? The route Democrats take may determine not only Mr. Biden’s fortunes but also, they say, the future of American democracy. Widely believing a vengeful Mr. Trump poses a grave threat to the nation, Democrats at all levels of the party are simultaneously thrilled to see him found guilty and fearful that he has a supernatural ability to survive even this political peril. Post-verdict interviews with more than 50 Democrats — including current and former members of Congress, statewide elected officials, veteran strategists, Democratic National Committee members and local officials — revealed a party hungry to tell voters that Mr. Trump’s conviction makes him unfit and worried that Mr. Biden might not use the bully pulpit of the presidency to press that argument. “I do think it is the obligation of every Democrat to remind every voter that Donald Trump is now a convicted felon and just how unprecedented this is,” said former Representative Beto O’Rourke of Texas, a Democrat who ran for the presidential nomination against Mr. Biden in 2020.

The 4.8-magnitude earthquake on the East Coast Friday came from ancient dormant faults. The East Coast, however, is located in the middle of a plate and doesn't experience much of that movement. Baltimore’s regional economy has a lot going for it such as low unemployment and low inflation. Only 3% to 5% of people who are diagnosed with this type of brain tumor will be alive three years later. Now, an experimental therapy that reprograms a person’s own immune cells to attack these tumors is showing some exciting promise. Doctors first harvested immune fighters called T-cells from his blood and then genetically modified them in a lab so they’d recognize and bind to specific proteins on the surface of the brain tumor cells. After a single 10-milliliter infusion of about 10 million CAR-T cells, Fraser’s tumor began to shrink. Three-quarters of the participants had had their brain tumors come back at least twice.
