July 28 (Reuters) - Rio Olympics pole vaulting gold medallist Thiago Braz has been provisionally suspended after he returned a positive test for doping, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said on Friday. The Brazilian has been temporarily suspended for the presence/use of Ostarine Glucuronide/Ostarine, the AIU said. The 29-year-old will remain suspended from any competition or activity in athletics until a final decision at a hearing conducted under the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules or the Integrity Code of Conduct will take place. Braz won gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics and bronze five years later at the delayed Tokyo Games. June 28 (Reuters) - Four times Olympic gold medallist Simone Biles will return to competition in early August at the U.S. Classic in Chicago, USA Gymnastics said on Wednesday, in what will be her first event since the Tokyo Games in 2021. That took her Olympic tally to seven medals, equalling Shannon Miller as the American female gymnast with the most Games medals. "Together, they have won 60 Olympic and World Championships medals, with 12 from the Games and 48 from Worlds. Those tallies include a combined 46 World or Olympic medals earned by Biles (32), Carey (8) and Lee (6)." Biles, who recently married NFL player Jonathan Owens, used the US Classic to return from a two-year break in 2018 following her participation in Rio.

NEW DELHI, May 28 (Reuters) - Several of India's top wrestlers, including Olympic medallists Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik, were detained by police on Sunday as they intensified their protest demanding the arrest of their federation chief over sexual harassment allegations. The wrestlers originally hit the street in January demanding action against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has denied allegations of sexually harassing several female athletes. The wrestlers resumed their protest on April 23 demanding Singh's arrest and have since been camping near the new parliament building which Modi inaugurated on Sunday. "They broke the barricades and didn't follow police directions," senior Delhi Police officer Dependra Pathak told local media. Malik, who won the women's 58kg freestyle bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics, shared photos and video of the wrestlers being dragged away by the police.

CNN —American sprinter and long jumper Tori Bowie – a three-time Olympic medalist and a two-time world champion in track and field – has died, according to her agent, Kimberly Holland. Holland told CNN on Wednesday that Bowie was found dead at home in Florida and that the cause of death is not known yet. “We’re devasted [sic] to share the very sad news that Tori Bowie has passed away,” an Instagram post from Bowie’s representation and Holland’s company, Icon Management Inc., said. A native of Sandhill, Mississippi, Bowie was a three-time All-American at the University of Southern Mississippi. Her last appearance on the world stage was in 2019 at the world championships in Doha, when she finished fourth in the long jump.

McIntosh finished the 400m individual medley in a time of 4:25.87, surpassing the previous record of 4:26.36 set by Katinka Hosszu at the Rio Olympics in 2016. "That's the first time I really, vividly heard the crowd during my race," the 16-year-old said. McIntosh set a world record in the 400m freestyle on the opening night of the trials on Tuesday, shaving 0.32 seconds off the mark set by Australia's Ariarne Titmus last year.
