PHOENIX, Feb 10 (Reuters) - The Eagles will bring Philly's fighting spirit to Super Bowl 57 as their fans fly in droves to watch Jalen Hurts and the NFC champions take on Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Defensive end Brandon Graham and defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, holdovers from the Eagles' successful Super Bowl campaign five years ago, add to the veteran credentials of a group the New York Post has dubbed the "Birds of Prey". And, you know, hit the ground rolling, we hit the ground rolling. 'DIEHARD FANS'The title game will be the ultimate test for 41-year-old head coach Nick Sirianni, at the helm for a Super Bowl for the first time. Hurts' breakout season saw him rack up 3,701 passing yards after getting the Eagles off to an impressive 8-0 start to the season.

REUTERS/Caitlin O'HaraPHOENIX, Feb 7 (Reuters) - A near-historic Philadelphia Eagles pass rush will face the ultimate test on Sunday in Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, an MVP favourite with no interest in ceding the Super Bowl spotlight. "I don't know if you can contain him - I just don't know, he's that good. He's so mentally tough," head coach Andy Reid told reporters at the Super Bowl Opening Night on Monday. Cornerback James Bradberry said that it would take everything in the Eagles arsenal to stop Mahomes from collecting his second Super Bowl ring.

Mandatory Credit: Bill Streicher-USA TODAY SportsJan 29 (Reuters) - A pair of rushing touchdowns from Miles Sanders helped the Philadelphia Eagles to soar past the 49ers 31-7 in the NFC Championship on Sunday, after injuries hit San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy and backup Josh Johnson. "This is something you dream about as a kid," Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said in televised remarks. The situation went from bad to worse for San Francisco as Purdy left the game with an elbow injury after a strip sack by Eagles' linebacker Haason Reddick in the 49ers' first possession. "This is a special city," said Hurts, 24, before leading the euphoric crowd at Lincoln Financial Field in singing the Eagles' fight song, "Fly, Eagles Fly".

[1/5] Dec 4, 2022; Cincinnati, Ohio, USA; Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (15) looks to throw during the first quarter against the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium. Former MVP Patrick Mahomes, 27, expects to shake off an injury doubt to lead his Chiefs to revenge over the Bengals in their fifth straight conference championship appearance. Last year's overtime heartbreaker saw Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow off to the Super Bowl in only his second season. In the NFC Championship, 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is looking to put the cherry on top of his improbable Cinderella story on the road in Philadelphia. The conditions get tougher, it gets a little steeper, gets a little harder to breathe.
Although they had a decent season last year, no one could have predicted the Eagles would become Super Bowl contenders behind an inexperienced quarterback and a second-year head coach. Despite the disappointing end to the season, there were good signs to go off for the 2017 Super Bowl winners. After Thursday's victory over the Texans and setting a franchise-best start to the season, Hurts was in no mood for getting ahead of himself. "I know it's special for the city of Philadelphia," Hurts, who has at least thrown two touchdowns in the last three games, told reporters. After such a start, many are penciling in the Eagles to come out of the NFC conference and challenge in Super Bowl LVII in Arizona.
By late Tuesday night, tropical storm-force winds generated by Ian extended through the Florida Keys island chain to the southernmost shores of the state's Gulf Coast, the NHC said. U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency chief Deanne Criswell said she worried that too few Florida residents were taking the threat seriously. 1/6 A hurricane evacuation route sign is displayed as Hurricane Ian spins toward the state carrying high winds, torrential rains and a powerful storm surge, in Punta Gorda, Florida, U.S. September 27, 2022. If Ian strikes the Tampa area, it would be the first hurricane to make landfall there since the 1921 Tarpon Springs storm. But officials said Hurricane Ian had proven too much, knocking out power even in far eastern Cuba, which was largely unaffected by the storm.

The latest 8 p.m. EDT (2100 GMT) hurricane advisory put Ian's top winds at 120 mph (195 km per hour). Ian was most likely to come ashore south of Tampa near Sarasota, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said. Parts of central Florida could see as much of 2 feet (0.6 meter) of rain from Ian, according to the National Weather Service. If Ian strikes Tampa, it would be the first hurricane to make landfall in the area since the Tarpon Springs storm in 1921.
