Fed officials reflected in their latest economic projections from December that they expect to cut interest rates three times this year, which would also lower mortgage rates. Buell died Monday in Sunnyvale, California, where his daughter lived, after battling pneumonia, his daughter Barbara Buell said in an email. “Hal pushed us an extra step,” Adams said in an internal AP newsletter at the time of Buell's retirement in 1997. Buell implemented the transition from a chemical darkroom where film was developed to digital transmission and digital news cameras. He also helped create AP’s digital photo archive in 1997. The friend favored turtlenecks and mohair and was a style-extremist, but is Grant still held in such regard by anyone? As it happens, on the afternoon I watched the four-part “Archie”—Grant having been born Archibald Leach in 1904—Turner Classic Movies was devoting an entire day to Cary Grant movies. If there were a Mount Rushmore dedicated to matinee idols of the Golden Age of Hollywood, two of the four heads would belong to Cary Grant. Department-store buyers were so enamored of the Pop-over that they persuaded McCardell’s employer, Adolph Klein, to commit to a huge 75,000-yard denim order, assuring him the garment would be a sell-out hit. At the time, denim was a workingman’s textile that women rarely wore. He implored McCardell to come up with some other denim designs—just in case the order was overkill. Novo Nordisk on Thursday said 80% of U.S. patients with insurance coverage who take its highly popular weight loss treatment Wegovy are paying less than $25 a month for the drug. He estimated that about 50 million Americans with obesity could be eligible for Wegovy coverage under their health plans. Most patients have to take Wegovy for several months to see — and sustain — significant weight loss. Wegovy, for example, leads to 15% weight loss after 68 weeks, according to clinical trials on the drug. But Novo Nordisk is hoping that new data demonstrating the heart health benefits of Wegovy will put more pressure on insurers to cover the medication and similar weight loss treatments.

Whatever effect they have on the diplomatic front, Biden’s Israel trip and Thursday night prime time television address can only help his reelection efforts at this point, especially if he faces Trump. Some Republicans even offered grudging praise for Biden’s Israel trip. Of course, many prominent conservatives still found grounds for panning the Democratic president. According to Gallup, Democratic support for Israel has been sliding for years. Voters for now are giving Biden reasonably good reviews for his handling of both Israel and Ukraine.
