And I'm not alone: People are spending less and less time on social media. But instead of spelling the death of social media, it may be the beginning of a better era. Welcome to the Great Social Media Splintering. One recent study found social media could cause an increase in eating disorders and poor body image in men and women. Studies have found that news overload from social media can cause stress, anxiety, fatigue, and lack of sleep.

But instead of spelling the death of social media, it may be the beginning of a better era. Welcome to the Great Social Media Splintering. One recent study found social media could cause an increase in eating disorders and poor body image in men and women. The fatigue I have felt is therefore partly fueled by another, more-pressing concern: Which social network should I bank on? But until it emerges, I expect to continue living a splintered and nomadic online social life.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's (TSMC) logo is seen while people attend the opening of the TSMC global R&D center in Hsinchu, Taiwan July 28, 2023. In the past five months the improvement has been tremendous," TSMC Chairman Mark Liu said of the Arizona project last week. The $40 billion investment in Arizona allows TSMC to add capacity outside Taiwan, where it faces constraints on land, power, water and labour. "A lot of machines cannot be shut down because it costs TSMC to recalibrate on rebooting," said a chip industry executive. While many equipment and materials makers already have global operations, to meet its exacting standards TSMC has also brought suppliers to Japan from Taiwan, the sources said.

Mr. DeSantis is in the midst of rebooting a presidential campaign. On Saturday, Mr. DeSantis frequently slowed down the pace of a parade in Londonderry, N.H., by stopping to shake hands with onlookers and pose for selfies. Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, a Republican who has clashed with Mr. Trump, said of Mr. DeSantis after the two governors met briefly at the parade. Mr. Trump appears to be skipping the debate, handing Mr. DeSantis an opportunity to take the spotlight. But the former president’s absence also means Mr. DeSantis, as the stand-in front-runner, will most likely come under withering fire from rival candidates.

REUTERS/John Sommers II/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsAug 18 (Reuters) - Air cargo enjoyed record demand when COVID-19 closed borders and snarled supply chains. Now, it is reeling from overcapacity and tumbling freight rates as the freight boom makes a hard landing. Passenger jets grounded during the health crisis are flying again and bringing their lower-deck cargo space, which competes with dedicated air freighters, back into play. The Florida-based carrier cited "the unyielding and rapidly mounting macro-economic headwinds that plagued the entire air cargo transportation sector starting in late 2022". In June, air cargo experienced the slowest contraction since February 2022, the International Air Transport Association said.

Researchers in Berlin say they found a way to circumvent that, and get new features for free. The doctoral researchers used a hack to "attack" Tesla's systems. Tesla owners use in-car purchases to unlock all sorts of vehicle features and upgrades. The researchers say they "attacked" Tesla's embedded car computer — known as "jailbreaking" — giving them the ability to run arbitrary software on the infotainment system, activate or disable features, and circumvent payment. Using a voltage-glitching vulnerability in the electronic control unit, the researchers bypassed Tesla's MCU-Z processor.

Meta is overhauling its Horizon Worlds virtual reality app to include more video games as the social platform struggles to find a big audience. Horizon Worlds is the company's free virtual reality social network where people can create avatars and interact with other players. The studio's first VR game, a shooter called Super Rumble, debuted on Friday and reportedly contains better graphics and fidelity than other VR games built on top of Horizon Worlds. The video game will also be one of the first VR video games that Meta plans to test when it eventually debuts a mobile version of Horizon Worlds, Shah said. "This is definitely more than just a new world," Shah said, referring to it as "the next generation of Horizon Worlds."

The candidate needs to lock down savvy people he trusts and will listen to, even as he jettisons the troublemakers. When Mr. McCain cut loose a couple of his top advisers in 2007, several senior staff members followed them out the door. This is when a candidate really needs to step up and impose order. The harsh reality of reboots is that some presidential hopefuls are just too out of step with the political moment to rescue. By the fall of 2015, Team Jeb was slashing staff and hoping for the debates to help him win free media.

New York CNN —Weight loss brand Jenny Craig is getting a second lease on life. Jenny Craig went bust in May after more than 40 years in business because of growing competition from trendy diets and weight loss drugs like Ozempic. One major change is that Jenny Craig’s weight loss centers won’t be reopened, and the company will live entirely online. Jenny Craig was one of the pioneers of weight loss and diet programs. Named after its founder, the Jenny Craig business started when she couldn’t lose weight after giving birth to her second child.

Israeli lawmakers on Sunday began debating a bill that would limit the Supreme Court's powers, rebooting a judicial overhaul instigated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's religious-nationalist coalition that has stirred mass protests. The coalition says its goal is to balance the powers of the government, legislature and judiciary by reining in a Supreme Court they see as too interventionist. Anti-government demonstrations had prompted Netanyahu to suspend his judicial drive in March to allow compromise talks with opposition parties. The proposed judicial overhaul has also stirred Western concern for Israel's democratic health and spooked investors. Critics see it as an attempt to curb court independence by Netanyahu, who is on trial on graft charges that he denies.

Muscle memory: How does it work?

But while muscle memory is real, that’s not what is actually going on in your body. Understanding how both kinds of muscle memory work can help you get off to a strong start if you’re establishing a new fitness routine or rebooting one after a break. Physiological muscle memoryThe physiological side of muscle memory has to do with the ability to quickly regain lost muscle. This form of muscle memory occurs because when you first build muscle, your body adds new cells to those muscles. Science says another type of muscle memory is related to the regrowth of actual muscle tissue.

Some of us would like to slow this down because we are seeing more costs every day, but I don’t think that means that there are no benefits. We may someday have a technology that revolutionizes science and technology, but I don’t think GPT-5 is the ticket for that. Combine that human overattribution with the reality that these systems don’t know what they’re talking about and are error-prone, and you have a problem. I don’t think we should go after an individual who posts a silly story on Facebook that wasn’t true. I don’t think, however, that the technology we have right now is very good for that — systems that can’t even reliably do math problems.
FTX’s new chief executive, John J. Ray III, said he’s looking into the possibility of reviving the bankrupt crypto exchange as he works to return money to the failed company’s customers and creditors. In his first interview since taking over FTX in November, Mr. Ray said that he has set up a task force to explore restarting FTX.com, the company’s main international exchange. Although top FTX executives have been accused of criminal misconduct, some customers have praised its technology and suggested that there would be value in rebooting the platform, he said.
Now, Chief Executive Elon Musk is using that superior profitability as a weapon in the EV price war he started. That emboldened automakers to push EV prices higher. Vietnamese EV startup Vinfast said Thursday it will use price promotions to fight back against Tesla. Chinese EV market leader BYD Co Ltd(002594.SZ) announced price increases effective Jan. 1 after Beijing phased out EV subsidies. However, BYD's gross margins of $5,456 per vehicle give it more headroom in a price war than VW, Toyota or GM.
