WASHINGTON — Kamala Harris' presidential campaign is ramping up efforts to court male voters two weeks before Election Day with ads on platforms frequented by men who like fantasy sports, sports betting, sports news and video game websites. Kamala Harris is the average Joe underdog and … Ha No, this isn’t a time for jokes," he said. Since she jumped into the race, Harris has been trying to attract men to support her, but Trump continues to perform better among male voters. NBC News’ recent poll found that 56% of male registered voters support Trump, while 40% of them support Harris. According to the Harris campaign, it's also trying to break through and reach men on platforms such as TikTok and live-streaming site Twitch.

WASHINGTON — The Biden administration announced a milestone Thursday in its effort to cancel Americans' student debt: it has provided relief to more than one million borrowers who work in public service. The Education Department said that before Biden's presidency, only 7,000 public servants had ever received student debt relief through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. The milestone comes after the administration has faced legal challenges to a number of its student debt relief proposals and roadblocks put up by court rulings. The Supreme Court, for example, ruled last year that the administration’s original student debt forgiveness program couldn't take effect. That plan would have benefited 43 million borrowers by canceling up to $20,000 in debt, potentially costing more than $400 billion.

WASHINGTON — The Biden administration has warned Israel that if the humanitarian situation in Gaza doesn't improve within the next 30 days, the U.S. may restrict military assistance to Israel. The Biden Administration sent a similar warning to Israeli officials in April ahead of a required report, and the U.S. ultimately determined the actions taken by Israel to improve the humanitarian situation afterward met the requirements under the law. The ministry says the total death toll in Gaza since the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel is more than 42,000. Progressive members of the Democratic Party, as well as advocacy organizations like IfNotNow, have been calling on the Biden administration for months to halt arms to Israel. "The administration can and must act now — each day the Biden Administration waits to cut off the flow of bombs, planes, and missiles, the Israeli military uses U.S. weapons to extinguish more Palestinian lives."

Congressman Marjorie Taylor Greene, a congressman with Georgia, is now saying the federal government is literally controlling the weather — we're controlling the weather. It’s got to stop," Biden said during a virtual briefing at the White House as he received updates about Hurricane Milton. Greene said in an Oct. 3 post on X: "Yes they can control the weather. "The NOAA government website has a library catalog of 1,026 entries of weather modifications, but that’s not all of them." On Tuesday, she quoted an article from The Gateway Pundit, a far-right website known for spreading conspiracy theories, that said: "Marjorie Taylor Greene was right.

President Joe Biden's student loan forgiveness program can proceed after a judge Wednesday let a temporary restraining order on the plan expire. He wrote that he would transfer the case to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. The states that brought the lawsuit have argued that the administration’s rule that would mass-cancel student debt would be detrimental to income tax revenue. Biden laid out the revised plan in April after the Supreme Court nullified the administration’s original student debt forgiveness program in 2023. If the administration’s proposed rules are finalized this fall, it would bring the total number of recipients of student debt relief under Biden's tenure to 30 million, the Department of Education said in August.

Meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelenskyy for the first time in five years, former President Donald Trump complained about his 2019 impeachment and said if re-elected he would work to end the Russia-Ukraine war with a deal “that’s good for both sides." Trump said the two leaders "have a very good relationship, and I also have a very good relationship, as you know, with [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin." During the July phone call, Trump asked Zelenskyy about opening an investigation into President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden. "It was a hoax, just a Democrat hoax, which we won," Trump said of the impeachment effort, with Zelenskyy standing by his side Friday. WASHINGTON — Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been disbarred from practicing law in Washington, D.C., according to an order filed Thursday by the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Both panels had pointed to Giuliani trying to get thousands of votes for President Joe Biden tossed out in the battleground state of Pennsylvania that year. The D.C. Bar's Board on Professional Responsibility said in a report in June that there was "clear and convincing evidence" that Giuliani "violated Pennsylvania Rules of Professional Conduct" and therefore "should be disbarred." Giuliani also lost his law license in New York state in July over his actions to disseminate lies about voter fraud in the 2020 election. Separately, he faces charges in Arizona and Georgia over his efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in those states.

A state district judge struck down North Dakota's abortion ban Thursday, saying that the state constitution creates a “fundamental right” to access abortion before a fetus is viable. "The Court concludes [the law] violates the Constitution of the State of North Dakota and is void for vagueness and of no effect," the order stated. The ruling stemmed from a request from the state to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a North Dakota clinic in 2022. Even though the judge’s ruling would make abortion legal in the meantime, according to the Center for Reproductive Rights, there are no longer any clinics performing abortions in North Dakota. North Dakota's ban prohibited abortion at all stages of pregnancy, except in the case of death or serious health risk.

The Missouri Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that an amendment that would enshrine abortion access in the state's constitution can appear on the general election ballot. A majority of the state Supreme Court said that a previous judgment by a circuit court is reversed, directing Missouri Secretary of State John Ashcroft to inform local election officials to place Amendment 3 on the state's Nov. 5 ballot. "The Missouri Supreme Court’s ruling ensures that Amendment 3, the Right to Reproductive Freedom Initiative, will appear on the November ballot, giving voters—not politicians—the power to decide on this critical issue. Missouri is one of 10 states that will have an abortion-rights amendment on the ballot this year. In that ruling, Limbaugh stopped short of removing the measure from the ballot, providing the campaign the opportunity instead to appeal to the state Supreme Court before a Tuesday deadline.

An amendment that would enshrine abortion access in Missouri's constitution will appear on the state's general election ballot, Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft's office announced Tuesday. Ashcroft, a Republican, deemed that the petitions to qualify the initiative for the ballot had the sufficient number of signatures. The ballot would also protect abortion rights up until fetal viability, around the 24th week of pregnancy, except to protect the life or health of the mother. Amendments that would protect or expand abortion rights will also appear on the ballot in seven other states this fall. Organizers in Arkansas, Montana and Nebraska have also submitted signatures for similar ballot measures.

WASHINGTON — U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan on Friday approved a request from special counsel Jack Smith to allow for more time to propose the next steps in the government's election interference case against former President Donald Trump. The special counsel's office said in its filing Thursday that prosecutors are still assessing the "new precedent set forth" in the Trump immunity decision by the Supreme Court. Smith asked Chutkan to give them and Trump's lawyers until Aug. 30 to submit the joint status report and to schedule the status conference after that. The appeals process made certain that the trial would not happen before Election Day on Nov. 5. Last weekend Chutkan denied an older motion from Trump to dismiss the election interference indictment, filed before the Supreme Court took up the case.

A man who set himself on fire Friday outside the courthouse where former President Donald Trump's hush money trial is taking place has died, New York City police said early Saturday. The man, whom police identified as Maxwell Azzarello of St. Augustine, Florida, was in the designated protest area outside. It appeared to happen around the time that the jury for Trump's trial was fully empaneled — with 12 jurors and six alternates selected to sit for a trial that's expected to last about six weeks. It occurred just before the court took a lunch break. Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said Azzarello was born in 1987 and arrived in New York City earlier in the week.

We will support Israel, we will help defend Israel and Iran will not succeed," he said. Iranian officials, including the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, have vowed to retaliate against Israel over the attack on its consulate in Damascus. In response, Israel has threatened to launch a direct strike on Iran if it comes under attack.
