Dincolo însă de pedanteria obiecţiilor academice, îi reproşăm autorului altceva: faptul că n-a înţeles că, vrei, nu vrei, atunci când vorbeşti despre Iisus faci teologie. Gabriel Liiceanu accesează un Isus altfel — un personaj special, dezvăluit filozofului prin mecanisme hermeneutice străine „habotnicilor”, „pocăiţilor” sau „pupătorilor de moaşte” (cum e la modă să fie numiţi creştinii în lumea bună). De ce tocmai Iisus a afirmat: „Înainte de Avraam, «Eu sunt... »” – iată un enunţ de-o greutate ontologică lipsită de răspuns din partea filozofului.
