A new brick-and-mortar store from the e-commerce startup Outlandish is bringing to life the world of TikTok Shop. In addition to TikTok Shop, Outlandish has experience working with brands to help them sell on Douyin and other social apps. Other TikTok Shop sellers have experimented with adding livestreaming spaces to their storefronts, such as the New York-based pre-owned luxury store What Goes Around Comes Around. Outlandish, which began in 2018 as a social shopping agency in China, is an official TikTok Shop partner. Blackstone announced Tuesday that it has acquired a “majority ownership position” in Jersey Mike’s, valued at around $8 billion, according to a source familiar. The influx of cash will help the sandwich chain “accelerate its expansion across and beyond the US market, as well as its continued investment in technology and digital transformation,” a statement said. “We believe we are still in the early innings of Jersey Mike’s growth story and that Blackstone is the right partner to help us reach even greater heights,” Cancro said in a statement. Jersey Mike’s is the second-largest sandwich chain behind Subway in sales. Data from QSR Magazine reveals Jersey Mike’s locations pull in about $1.35 million per unit, with an average Subway location raking in less than $500,000.

AdvertisementTiger Management and $4 billion hedge fund Hound Partners are in a legal tussle. Tiger, the legendary investment manager founded by the late Julian Robertson, seeded Hound in 2004. Hound saw assets fall from $4.6 billion at the end of 2017 to $1.8 billion at the end of 2022, according to Tiger's suit. "There is no instance of which Tiger is aware where Mr. Auerbach sought a positive reference for his funds that Tiger declined to provide," Tiger's suit states. Auerbach did not work for Robertson's fund but was seeking capital to start his fund in 2004 when he met the billionaire.
