CNN —The oldest known tablet inscribed with the Ten Commandments from the Old Testament is expected to fetch up to $2 million when it goes up for auction next month. The ancient stone will be on show in Sotheby's New York showroom from December 5, before going on sale later in the month. The inscription was placed face upward and the stone was exposed to heavy foot traffic. According to a press statement sent to CNN by Sotheby’s, which will auction the tablet in New York next month, the stone was sold to a scholar in 1943. Last year, a Hebrew Bible more than 1,000 years old was sold for $38.1 million at Sotheby’s in New York.

CNN —Gregg Popovich, the NBA’s all-time winningest coach, suffered a mild stroke on November 2, the San Antonio Spurs said Wednesday. San Antonio said the incident happened at Frost Bank Center, the home arena of the Spurs. Popovich has started rehabilitation and is “expected to make a full recovery,” according to the team. “I would say that he’s doing good,” Johnson told reporters after the Spurs’ November 7 game against the Portland Trail Blazers. WASHINGTON — Republicans are gearing up to lock in their remake of the judiciary under President-elect Donald Trump and a new Senate majority, including potentially installing several more conservative Supreme Court justices. Conservatives are prepared for Supreme Court retirements, with the most attention on Justice Samuel Alito, 74. GOP won't pursue Supreme Court ethics rulesTrump already transformed the federal courts in his first term, appointing 54 appeals court judges and 174 district court judges, many of whom are closely linked with the Federalist Society, a conservative legal group. Biden has made his own mark on the judiciary, appointing 210 district and appeals court judges in total, including 44 appeals court judges, falling just short of Trump’s total. “We’ll quit beating up the Supreme Court every time we don’t like the decision they make,” he said.

Pennsylvania resident Naomi Whitehead, 114, was recently crowned the oldest living American. She earned the title as the oldest living person in America following the death of 115-year-old Elizabeth Francis last month. Whitehead grew up on a farm, and "picked cotton and tobacco," she told New Castle News last year. Though regular exercise wasn't ever important to Whitehead, her daily strenuous physical activity was "plowing in the field," she told YouTuber Jack Gordon in an interview. Whitehead's responses to Gordon's questions were typically just a few words, but she was still able to recite an extended bible verse at age 114.
