By Nov. 7, my fellow Ohioans will cast votes on Issue 1, a ballot initiative that would secure access to reproductive health care, including abortion.
It is the only statewide election specifically about reproductive rights in 2023.
I’m on the committee that helped draft the language for the proposed amendment: It is short (just over 200 words), easy to understand and written to specifically reflect the beliefs of our state.
Instead, voters will see an unnecessary and biased summary of the proposed amendment.
The clear lesson from 2022, when six states cast votes for reproductive rights, as well as the results of the recent Wisconsin Supreme Court race, is that voters vote in favor of abortion rights.
