CNN —Israel’s military has raided and ordered the closure of Al Jazeera’s office in Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank, the network said. Al Jazeera broadcast live footage early on Sunday of Israeli soldiers entering its offices in Ramallah, capturing the reactions of bureau chief Walid Omary and staff members live on air. Video broadcast by Al Jazeera showed one soldier informing Omary of a military order to close Al Jazeera’s office for 45 days. Shortly after, as Israeli soldiers approached Omary, the live video feed was cut, and Omary could be heard saying that soldiers had taken the camera and broadcast equipment the team had been using. CNN has contacted Al Jazeera and the Israeli military for comment.

A former Florida sheriff's deputy was arrested for manslaughter in connection with the accidental shooting death of his girlfriend, authorities said. Leslie Boileau called 911 Thursday night to report that he had "accidentally shot his girlfriend" at their home in Ocala. Boileau told police that he and his girlfriend had been "handling and dry-firing the firearms" when the shooting happened, authorities said. "While demonstrating the use of a rifle, Boileau accidentally discharged a loaded round, causing the fatal incident," police said. "In light of these findings, Leslie Boileau has been arrested for manslaughter for his role in the fatal shooting," police said.

Russian intelligence services are building up their presence in Mexico for spy operations targeting the United States, a return to Cold War tactics by an increasingly aggressive regime, according to U.S. officials and former intelligence officers. The Mexican Embassy and the Russian Embassy did not respond to a request for comment. “Part of this is a function of the fact that so many Russian intelligence officers have been kicked out of Europe. Those are Russian intelligence personnel, and they keep an eye very closely on their opportunities to have influence on U.S. opportunities and access,” VanHerck said. New Zealand pilot Phillip Mehrtens has been freed more than 19 months in Indonesia’s Papua, authorities said on Saturday. Indonesia’s Metro TV showed him tearfully speaking to his family by phone. New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters said, “We are pleased and relieved to confirm that Phillip Mehrtens is safe and well and has been able to talk with his family. This news must be an enormous relief for his friends and loved ones.”A range of New Zealand government agencies had been working with Indonesian authorities and others towards securing Mehrtens’ release, Peters said in a statement.
