Particle Health has raised $10 million from its existing investors, Business Insider has learned. Healthcare startup Particle Health has been battling electronic health records giant Epic Systems all year. The raise comes three months after Particle Health filed an antitrust lawsuit against Epic, alleging Epic has been stifling competition in the emerging "payer platform" market. The cash won't be used for Particle's antitrust lawsuit against Epic, because Particle itself isn't paying for the lawsuit, per two sources. Those actions and others by Epic, Particle's lawsuit claims, have led many Particle customers to drop their contracts and deter prospective customers, leading to a meaningful revenue loss for Particle.

For Trump, this economy looks like a mirror image of the one he inherited in 2017. The soon-to-be Trump economy is facing down a trio of weak spots that could start to rear their heads pretty soon after Inauguration Day. Yes, the unemployment rate sits at just 4.1%, only a bit higher than its multidecade low. A variety of measures, however, suggest that the low headline unemployment rate overstates the degree of strength in the jobs market. In both cases, the unemployment rate was quite a bit higher, suggesting that the unemployment rate likely overstates the degree of health in the labor market.

Though Trump has made little mention of attacking the government's debt and deficit load, the outlook there improved as well. Chinese-based ByteDance and its short-video app TikTok on Monday asked an appeals court to temporarily block a law that would require that parent company ByteDance to divest TikTok by Jan. 19 or face a ban, pending a review by the U.S. Supreme Court. On Friday, a three-judge panel of the appeals court upheld the law requiring ByteDance to divest TikTok in the United States by early next year or face a ban in just six weeks. Lawyers for the companies said the prospect the Supreme Court will take the case "and reverse is sufficiently high to warrant the temporary pause needed to create time for further deliberation." Trump, who unsuccessfully tried to ban TikTok during his first term in 2020, said before the November presidential election he would not allow the ban on TikTok. In 2020, Trump also tried to ban Tencent-owned WeChat, but was blocked by the courts.

Euro notes are pictured at a bank in this photo illustration taken in Seoul June 18, 2012. The euro was subdued on Thursday after the widely expected collapse of the French government, stoking worries about the region's second-biggest economic power, while the South Korean won steadied in the aftermath of the martial law debacle. In a parliamentary hearing on Wednesday, Lagarde said euro zone economic growth could be weaker in the months ahead and downside risks dominate the medium term outlook. In Asia, the South Korean won was stable as the nation's finance ministry said that the government will activate 40 trillion won ($28.35 billion) worth of market stabilization funds after the chaos that followed President Yoon Suk Yeol declaring and then rescinding martial law. OpenAI and Anduril on Wednesday announced a partnership allowing the defense tech company to deploy advanced artificial intelligence systems for "national security missions." This fall, Palantir signed a new five-year, up to $100 million contract to expand U.S. military access to its Maven AI warfare program. OpenAI said it was working with Anduril to help human operators make decisions "to protect U.S. military personnel on the ground from unmanned drone attacks." The company said it stands by the policy in its mission statement of prohibiting use of its AI systems to harm others.
