Some CEOs are moonlighting as frontline workers to root out problems. Uber's CEO became a delivery driver and Starbucks' CEO worked in stores alongside baristas. Do you think your CEO should do your job for a day? Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi secretly signed up as a driver last year, transporting dozens of passengers and deliveries around San Francisco. If you think your CEO should spend a day in your role, tell us why — and what they might learn from the exercise — in this survey.

The Uber CEO said he would try to keep customers happy by offering phone charging cables and serving up Spotify playlists featuring artists including Taylor Swift and The National. Khosrowshahi told the Journal that some drivers had returned in response to economic uncertainty, which was yet to have an impact on rider demand.

A federal judge on Tuesday threw out three of four convictions against a Kansas researcher accused of illegally concealing work he was doing at a Chinese university while working at the University of Kansas, leaving only a conviction for making a false statement on a form. A jury convicted researcher Feng “Franklin” Tao in April on three counts of wire fraud and one count of false statements. He was accused of not disclosing that he was working for Fuzhou University in China while employed at the Kansas university. She upheld the making a false statement conviction and denied Tao’s request for a new trial on that count. She said Tao did make a false statement to Kansas on a conflict of interest statement he submitted to the university in 2018.
Several hours after the Justice Department unsealed the indictments, the Treasury Department announced new sanctions against 10 Iranian nationals and two Iranian tech companies. Treasury officials described all 10 of the sanctioned individuals as "affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps." The IRGC is an elite branch of the Iranian military that oversees Iran's international cyber warfare and espionage operations. According to a notice from the Treasury Department, this particular group of Iranians is not obviously aligned with one of the existing IRGC proxy gangs. The Justice Department has struggled for decades to convince institutional victims of cyberattacks that they would be better served by reporting the attack than by covering it up.
