Tim Walz was born in rural West Point, Nebraska, in 1964. Walz was born in a rural area. "An awful lot of who I am was built on being a Nebraskan," Walz told the Omaha World-Herald in 2018. Walz often jokes that there were only 24 kids in his high school graduating class, including 12 cousins. According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Walz's mother still resides in Nebraska.

Tim Walz as her running mate, capping the Midwestern Democrat’s short but swift ascent from a relative unknown to a leading driver of the Democratic attacks on Donald Trump and the MAGA agenda. Before Walz was elected governor in 2018, he served 12 years in Congress, representing a conservative-leaning rural district that, both before and after his tenure, has been mostly dominated by Republicans. Walz, 60, is also a former high school teacher and football coach who served in the Army National Guard.
