Brian Kemp has shown Republicans how they win in the increasingly purple swing state. I just want them to do their job for Georgia," Trump said of the Kemps during an August 3rd rally in Atlanta. But Trump's renewed feud with Kemp illustrates how, at any moment, the former president can harm his own standing. Unlike Harris, Trump is relying far more on outside groups to push the type of canvassing and get the out efforts expected of a presidential campaign. On Friday, Kemp offered another olive branch while jokingly comparing Trump to Tropical Storm Debby, which slammed the state.

Harris has strength with young voters and minoritiesBiden in 2020 swept nearly every swing state, boosted by his electoral advantage with young voters and minorities. And the latest Bloomberg News/Morning Consult poll taken in Georgia showed Harris and Trump tied at 47% support each among registered voters. A renewed spotlight on protecting access to birth control may not help women who are already struggling to find affordable contraception in some states with the strictest abortion laws. Few community clinics have the amount of money needed to cover birth control each month, McCollum said. But over-the-counter birth control pills haven’t reached many women in rural areas. Because of the Texas policy change an estimated one-quarter of family planning clinics in the state closed by 2013. “If someone does not have insurance, we can pay for their visit and their birth control method,” McCollum said.

6 types of depression identified in Stanford study

Some 30% to 40% of people with depression do not experience symptom improvement after trying one treatment, according to the study. And about 30% of people diagnosed with depression go on to experience treatment-resistant depression when the disorder doesn’t improve after multiple treatment attempts. Mapping depression in the brainThe authors used data from 801 adult participants who were previously diagnosed with depression or anxiety, and 137 healthy control group participants. The grant supports a five-year project involving 4,500 participants, which is centered on the development of a better diagnosis and treatment tool for depression biotypes. This method isn’t intended to replace or be the primary choice for assessments of individual cases of depression, Williams said.

CNN —Two Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists at The Washington Post went on the record late Wednesday, calling for leadership change at the storied newspaper as questions swirl over the integrity of its new publisher and chief executive, Will Lewis. “Will Lewis needs to step down for the good of The Post and the public,” Higham replied in a comment on Maraniss’ post. “He has lost the newsroom and will never win it back.”Spokespersons for Bezos and The Post did not immediately comment. Inside The Post’s newsroom, morale has plunged as staffers express alarm over Lewis’ conduct and worries over the future direction of the newspaper under his leadership. “Bezos must recruit an accomplished, experienced editor whom journalists admire and trust.”

CNN —Jeff Bezos, the billionaire owner of The Washington Post, broke his silence Tuesday on the mounting turmoil within his newspaper, expressing support for maintaining high standards at the storied publication as questions swirl over the ethical integrity of its new publisher, Will Lewis. Bezos added in the memo, which was obtained by CNN, that “it can’t be business as usual” at The Post, which has been plagued by financial and audience woes. With your support, we’ll do that and lead this great institution into the future,” Bezos wrote. “But, as the newsroom leaders who’ve been shaping and guiding our coverage, you also know our standards at The Post have always been very high. That can’t change — and it won’t.”“You have my full commitment on maintaining the quality, ethics, and standards we all believe in,” Bezos added.

New York CNN —Jeff Bezos has a decision to make — and it is one that will determine the future course of one of the nation’s most prestigious news organizations. Or he can side with his Pulitzer Prize-winning newsroom, which is repudiating their new leader in clear and unmistakable terms. And The Post reported Sunday that a “thief” who used deceptive tactics to obtain private material had ties with Winnett. The stories landed like a one-two punch in The Post newsroom, raising even more alarm and upping the panic level at the newspaper to new heights. When Bezos first appointed Lewis, staffers at The Post understood that he needed to appoint a publisher and chief executive who would shake things up in the newsroom.

Where the two sides were even within shouting distance of each other was vanishingly small, if it existed at all. But a few voices in the Trump universe allowed that Mr. Trump may well have done something wrong, and a few in the anti-Trump sphere said they had finally been convinced to vote for his opponent, President Biden. Prosecutors had framed their case in the loftiest of terms, election interference — an all-out effort to thwart the exposure of a sex scandal that may well have changed the course of history. That was not how Mr. Trump’s supporters saw it. CNN —When you’re trying to address mental health symptoms, simply the belief that you can be helped may be an important factor. Symptoms of nine mental health disorders substantially improved under placebo treatment, according to a new review of 90 randomized controlled trials — known as a meta-analysis — totaling 9,985 adult participants largely in their 30s and 40s. “This is the most comprehensive study of placebo effects in psychiatry.”The results are also important for patient treatment, Bschor said. But for disorders that didn’t see as much improvement with placebos — such as OCD or schizophrenia, which is a psychotic disorder — medication may be more necessary. Improvement in absence of medicationThat mental health symptoms improved with placebo treatment may be due to a few potential influences, experts said.

‘Babes’ Review: Adulting, With Babies

Alas: That’s what happened with “Babes.” The elements that promised joy were all there, starting with two very funny comic talents in Ilana Glazer and Michelle Buteau. There’s a screenplay by Glazer and Josh Rabinowitz, who was a producer on “Broad City,” the kooky, beloved show in which Glazer co-starred. But sometimes a pile of good ingredients doesn’t make something delicious, and I guess that’s what happened here. The marketing for “Babes” suggests something akin to “Bridesmaids,” the runaway 2011 hit that reminded Hollywood that raunchy comedies starring women can be hilarious and profitable. Dawn and Marty’s second baby is born on Thanksgiving Day, and on the way home from the hospital Eden meets Claude (Stephan James) on the subway.

CNN —Not long ago, senior citizens got the two biggest annual increases in their monthly Social Security checks that most had ever seen. While inflation has afflicted Americans of every age, senior citizens are often in a more difficult predicament because many live off fixed incomes. Many depend heavily on Social Security – some 42% of elderly women and 37% of elderly men rely on the monthly payments for at least half their income, according to the Social Security Administration. They aren’t wrong: Inflation has eaten away at 36% of Social Security benefits’ buying power since 2000, according to an analysis last year from The Senior Citizens League. The president needs these senior voters since polls also show his support among younger Americans has eroded since 2020.
