BRAGA, Portugal, Oct 24 (Reuters) - Real Madrid's Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham scored in each half to secure a 2-1 win at Sporting Braga and keep their side three points clear atop Champions League Group C on Tuesday. Wasteful Real missed several chances to extend their lead mainly through Vinicius who was often caught offside playing on the shoulder of an extremely high Braga defensive line. But they managed to score again in the 61st when Rodrygo beat the offside trap and found Vinicius ghosting behind the defence on the left. "We had to suffer more than expected in the end but it's normal to suffer away from home, especially in the Champions League," Vinicius Jr told Movistar Plus. Real are top on nine points ahead of Napoli, who eked out a 1-0 win at bottom side Union Berlin with the Germans yet to earn a point.

The annual event was revived in 1994 as part of Madrid's annual Fiesta de la Trashumancia, after the Spanish parliament recognised the traditional routes used to herd livestock. Locals and tourists lined the way, snapping pictures of the sheep that wore tinkling bells around their necks. "I really didn't expect this in the city, in the capital. This comes as deep-pocketed investors — from top U.S. private equity and venture capital firms to global rivals like sovereign wealth funds — have intensified competition. Meanwhile, more than one-third of the clubs in the so-called "Big Five" leagues in Europe are backed by U.S. investors, including private equity and venture capital firms. "These recent transactions have set a precedent in terms of club valuation but also prompted many owners to consider selling to [private equity]," according to an analyst report from PitchBook. Some firms, like Sixth Street Partners, have found different outlets into taking a stake in European soccer, particularly in Spain's LaLiga. The shift is happening as soccer clubs have been looking for fresh capital following the distress stemming from the earlier days of the Covid pandemic.

Two cities in south-central Spain, Badajoz and Montoro, broke the heat record for continental Spain during the month of October with 38 C and 38.2 C, respectively. The previous record was 37.5 C, documented in the resort city of Marbella in October 2014. The weather station at Madrid's iconic Retiro Park, which is over a century old, equalled its October record of 30 C set in 1930. He added that future summers would not only be hotter, but also longer, extending into the traditionally mild and rainy autumn.

MADRID, Sept 26 (Reuters) - Real Madrid's close-season signing Arda Guler has sustained a thigh injury, the LaLiga club said on Tuesday, in another setback for the midfielder that will further delay his debut for the team. "After the tests carried out on our player Arda Guler, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the left rectus femoris muscle," Real said in a statement. The 18-year-old Turkey international returned early from the club's pre-season tour with a knee injury, for which he underwent surgery in August. Guler returned to training a few days ago, but his latest injury has thwarted his anticipated debut against Las Palmas on Wednesday. The club did not give details about his recovery, but Spanish media reported he could be out for three weeks.

Voting opened at 9 a.m. (0700 GMT) and will close at 8 p.m. (1800 GMT), when exit polls will be released. The final result is expected to be decided by fewer than a million votes and fewer than 10 seats in the 350-seat parliament, experts say. Spectre of far-right hangs over close-run polls

MADRID, July 23 (Reuters) - Spain heads to the polls on Sunday in a potentially close-run general election marked by ideological differences, the spectre of the far-right and irritation at being forced to vote during the summer holidays. Voting opens at 9 a.m. (0700 GMT) and closes at 8 p.m. (1800 GMT), when exit polls will be released. The final result is expected to be decided by fewer than a million votes and less than 10 seats in the 350-seat parliament, experts say. It has warned such rights could be stripped back if the anti-feminist, family values-focused Vox is part of the next government.
