The Labor Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued citations against Amazon at three of its warehouses for exposing workers to safety hazards, the department announced Wednesday. Amazon also faces a separate investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office's civil division that centers around worker safety hazards at the e-retailer's facilities nationwide. Amazon warehouse workers have previously complained that the company's pace of work prevents them from taking adequate bathroom and rest breaks, and leads to unfair disciplinary actions. In April, workers at an Amazon warehouse on New York's Staten Island voted to form the company's first U.S. union. Workers at another Staten Island facility rejected a union, while a second election at an Amazon warehouse in Alabama is being contested.

OTTAWA, Nov 3 (Reuters) - Canada will introduce refundable tax credits for clean technologies worth up to 30% of investment costs, in a bid to close competitive gaps with the United States in scaling up green technologies, the government said on Thursday. The clean-tech tax credits will be offered for investors in net-zero technologies, battery storage and clean hydrogen, according to the so-called fall economic statement (FES) presented to the House of Commons by Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland. The tax will generate an estimated C$2.1 billion over five years and will come into force on Jan 1, 2024. "In terms of trying to foster business investments, I don't think it's well targeted," said Robert Asselin, senior vice president of policy at the Business Council of Canada. In next year's budget, Canada will introduce new measures to increase advanced manufacturing competitivness, the document said.

In an email sent to staff and obtained by Insider, Brad Calder, Cloud's vice president of technical infrastructure, said leadership is aiming to unfreeze hiring by October. The news comes months after Google announced plans to pull back on hiring due to uncertain economic conditions (though the firm has been hiring for critical roles across certain teams).
