CNN —A man has died from an Ebola-like disease named Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) after being bitten by a tick in Spain. The 74-year-old died of organ failure on Saturday in an isolation unit at the La Paz-Carlos III Hospital in the Spanish capital, Madrid, a spokesperson for the hospital told CNN on Monday. Spain has developed a national plan to deal with tick-borne diseases, including CCHF, but people should take action to avoid tick bites, Lorenzo-Morales said. Consuelo Giménez Pardo, a lecturer in medical parasitology at the University of Alcalá in Madrid, told CNN that “there will undoubtedly be more cases” of CCHF in Spain. “I expect that we will see more cases in the coming years,” Thomson told CNN on Monday.

After months of drought, he didn’t have any water or food to give them. “It’s devastating,” said the farmer, Lorenzo Iraci Sareri, as tears fell on his tanned face, lined by 40 years of labor pasturing cows. “I have never seen something like this.”Parts of Southern Italy and other Mediterranean regions, including Greece and the southeastern Spain, are experiencing one of their worst droughts in decades. CNN —Scientists have long theorized the existence of lunar caves — underground passageways formed through volcanic processes that are connected to the pits covering the moon’s surface. Now, a team of international researchers has found the first direct evidence that the moon’s deepest known pit connects to a cave that could provide shelter to astronauts. “Lunar caves have remained a mystery for a long time. Future research and exploration of lunar caves could also provide new insight into the evolution of the moon and lunar volcanism, the authors note in the study. “Moreover, (lunar caves) can be an alternative or an integration to a base on the surface of the Moon,” he added.

CNN —A nine-year-old motorcycle rider from Argentina has died after crashing during a practice session at the Interlagos Circuit in São Paulo, Brazil. Lorenzo Somaschini was participating in the first free practice session of the Jr Cup on Friday when he had a fall and was immediately treated by medics at the scene, race organizer SuperBike Brasil said in a statement. “The whole SuperBike Brasil team is saddened by the event and expresses its sincere condolences to all of Lorenzo’s family and friends,” said SuperBike Brasil. Somaschini, known as “Lolo,” rode under the number 99 as a tribute to his idol, Spain’s three-time MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo. “My heart breaks because also I was his idol and he wore my number,” Lorenzo wrote on Instagram Stories.
