What followed was hundreds of sequels and spinoffs, everything from "Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul" to "Chicken Soup for the Canadian Soul" to the bestseller I read cover to cover, several times, in sixth grade: "Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul." By 2003, research found that more young readers seeking solace turned to the Chicken Soup series than to the Bible. What began as Chicken Soup for the Soul board games and calendars turned into Chicken Soup for the Soul chocolates and Chicken Soup for the Soul pet food. He pointed out that the cover of the original Chicken Soup book "ripped off" Campbell's Soup, to trigger "nourishing and comforting and warming" feelings. He started suggesting outrageous directions Chicken Soup could go in next: "The Chicken Soup pistol!

That was happening at the same time, Butler says, that federal investigators were visiting Trump to discuss returning the classified material in the former president’s possession. ‘Hi, Brian.’ ‘Hi Mr. Trump,’ or ‘President Trump.’ And then he went in and talked to them, but I had no clue who those people were.”‘We’re all dirty. I'm a tech-literate digital immigrant, but I don't let my three children have screens. It is possible to raise kids screen-free and still operate happily in our world. Despite these obstacles, I chose to keep my kids screen-free: they don't have iPads, smartphones, or computers and don't watch TV. Raising your kids screen-free is not as radical as you would think. I can't even remember why I started doing itPeople in our lives have been surprised about keeping our kids screen-free — possibly because they have to confront their own kids' use of screens.

Even in the buffet of amenities that New York City private schools offer — state-of-the-art gyms and science labs, black box theaters and greenhouses, bespoke college guidance and dream teacher-to-student ratios — having a museum-caliber James Turrell Skyspace on your rooftop is in a class of its own. On the sixth floor of Friends Seminary, a Quaker school in Manhattan, Turrell, the internationally acclaimed artist who uses light to shape space, has created one of his perception-altering meeting rooms whose roof opens to the sky. Bathed in a spectrum of shifting radiant color, that slice of sky appears to float inside the installation, titled “Leading,” the only one of more than 85 Skyspaces by Turrell around the world attached to an active K-12 school. Sam Lane, a sophomore, was already a Turrell fan from family visits to the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, which has nine of the artist’s installations. “Some people were excited, some people were a little weirded out by it — like what does it means to have an art installation at our school this significant?”

Listen, I'm not saying that all the good vibes Americans are suddenly feeling about the economy boil down to stocks, gas prices, and eggs. What improved America's economic vibes was basically three things: the soaring stock market, falling gas prices, and eggs. Research shows that consumers feel more pessimistic when gas prices go up — James Surowiecki points out in The Atlantic that high gas prices also make people less happy and more likely to hate the president. If oil prices stay relatively low and, in turn, keep gas prices down, less exasperated drivers could help Joe Biden keep his job come November. There are all sorts of geopolitical threats and unknowns that could throw global trade and oil prices (and thus gas prices) into chaos.

The Blue Zones meals were tasty and convenient but left me hungryThis is not enough lunch for me. One of the most exciting discoveries in Blue Zones research is that the ingredients linked to longevity aren't expensive , exotic, or hard to prepare, and they are satiating too. The Blue Zones Kitchen Minestrone Casserole is currently on sale at Whole Foods for $6.99, almost five times that price. Building flavor for healthy food you'll actually be excited to eat is also easier than you might think. All in all, I'm thrilled we have the option for Blue Zones cooking to-go, but am still hungry for more.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Animal welfare advocates filed a lawsuit Wednesday seeking to invalidate Wisconsin's new wolf management plan, accusing state wildlife officials of violating the state's open meetings law and disregarding comments from wolf researchers and supporters. The Great Lakes Wildlife Alliance, also known as Friends of the Wisconsin Wolf and Wildlife, filed the latest lawsuit in Dane County Circuit Court. The organization describes itself as a statewide group of hunters, farmers, politicians, business owners and animal welfare advocates who support science-based conservation. Adam Payne, the department secretary at the time, announced revisions were coming after the February talks with the organizations that favor further limiting the wolf population. The Department of Natural Resources adopted a wolf management plan in 1999 that called for capping the population at 350 wolves.

Speaker Mike Johnson is less wealthy than most lawmakers and doesn't appear to have a DC residence. But where does the man who just recently ascended to the next spot in the line of succession sleep when he's in Washington, DC? Most likely in his small congressional office on the unglamorous, fluorescent-lit fifth floor of the Cannon House Office Building, according to several lawmakers and a long-time friend of Rep. Mike Johnson, the new speaker of the House. There are likely dozens of lawmakers sleeping in their offices each night, and some well-known former House members have been known to do it, including Florida Gov. Meanwhile, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi — one of the richest members of Congress — has a residence in Washington, DC's Georgetown neighborhood.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Thursday said his "Magnificent Seven" mega-cap tech stocks stood out during earnings season, even though they took a hit as investors fretted over an unsettled bond market. But many of the stocks have since recovered from post-earnings declines, Cramer noted, perhaps leaving some sellers full of regret. Cramer dubbed investors' reactions to Alphabet's Google Cloud miss "extreme," saying the stock is starting to come back. Apple reported Thursday after the market close, with its stock seeing a pullback in after-hours trading. "I think it's safe to say that the sellers missed out on a real buying opportunity and, worse, they created that opportunity themselves," Cramer said.

The future of AI is set to be "spiritually, politically, and economically" corrosive, Lanier said. He noted that people building AI tech should let go of sci-fi wish fulfillment. He noted that, while this year has been the "year of AI," next year the world is going to be "flooded, flooded with AI-generated music." A deluge of generative AI content, from simple search prompts to eerie deepfakes, is now up for broad government regulation. In addition to AI-generated content nixing human connection found through creative works and causing an eventual collapse of the creative economy, Lanier said AI-generated content that can be perfected and customized also undermines peoples' "sense of reality.

Robotic pets make some people squeamish. Instead, Cramer suggested investors keep their eyes on the June labor report, which will be released on Friday. The report is expected to show a red-hot job market, and Cramer said it is likely the market will get "clobbered" and the Federal Reserve will then raise rates "with abandon."
