In a fitting end to my athletic career, my husband and I got married after competing together on the college triathlon team. As our family continues to grow and change, we maintain a team-oriented approach that strengthens our bond in several ways. We continue to practice and improveSince we're still pretty new to the parenting game, we don't have much training under our belts. But hard things become easier with practice, something that my husband and I understand after years of athletics. Back when we were competing, my husband and I devoted extra time to our mental and physical well-being.

Read previewGetting a computer science degree used to be a stable path for any college student looking to secure a tech job right after graduation. And if that wasn't enough, computer science majors don't just have to compete amongst themselves, they need to watch out for AI too. Computer science professors that BI spoke to said that earning a degree in the field is just as, if not more, valuable in the age of AI. Related storiesThis, Kan said, is because computer science isn't so much about coding as it is an approach to solving problems. AdvertisementDavid Malan, a computer science professor at Harvard, told BI that AI won't displace software engineers in the near term and would instead amplify their productivity.

If my kids are inside, they may knock on the door to see if they can play. My kids get play dates without us having to schedule or drive anyone, and more often than not, everyone plays by the rules. Adults often stop by to chat, too, which is also nice for me; our backyard has become something of a neighborhood hangout. There are rules, and all the kids have to follow themIt's simple enough: everyone needs to be having fun. Other parents on my block also let kids come by to play, and each household (and yard) may have slightly different rules.

And then, on her second night in Rome, Skyler crossed paths with Giuseppe Morisani in a busy bar. There’s a story going around Wall Street that the Treasury Department is trying to help Democratic candidates in November by how it issues debt. I don’t buy it. Scott Bessent, a hedge fund manager who has raised money for Donald Trump’s campaign, told me last week that he thinks Janet Yellen, the current Treasury secretary, is an “apparatchik” for the White House whose behavior is “appalling.”Nouriel Roubini, a well-known economist who describes himself as a lifelong Democrat, isn’t as harsh as Bessent, but he told me he thinks the Treasury Department is inappropriately engaging in a kind of monetary policy, which is the purview of the Federal Reserve. “The Fed is in charge of managing the business cycle,” he said. “Treasury doesn’t have that mandate.”I’ll explain why I think Bessent, Roubini and others are barking up the wrong tree, but first I’ll lay out their argument.

While most people wouldn't decline a backup option in another country, the process of obtaining a secondary passport can be quite complicated — and expensive. Business Insider spoke to Judi Galst, who manages Henley & Partners' New York office, about the general steps required to get a secondary passport. AdvertisementThe specific requirements vary by country, Galst said. Countries like Spain are slow for citizenship approval, but have a relatively quick path to residence through investment, Galst said. The Caribbean has the lowest cost, and it requires a $200,000 contribution or $300,000 investment in real estate per application.

CNN —Former President Donald Trump is meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday, the first such meeting between the two men since Trump left the White House more than three years ago. Trump, who often claims he was the most pro-Israel president in modern history, once touted his close, personal relationship with Netanyahu. Netanyahu called Trump the greatest friend Israel has ever had and heralded him for “unequivocally” standing by Israel during Trump’s tenure as commander in chief. In posting that engagement with Abbas, Trump was trying to “strike a balance” going into the meeting, Bahbah said, adding that he hopes Trump will come out of the Netanyahu meeting calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire. “At the table, the most important question is asking the prime minister what he needs to win.

Up until now, Harris has been defined by working for President Joe Biden, arguably the most explicitly pro-Israel American president, even though his relationship with Benjamin Netanyahu has frayed. “President Biden brought to the White House a lifelong relationship with Bibi Netanyahu and a very mature history on the US-Israel relationship,” Murphy said. “The vice president has been a strong and longstanding supporter of Israel as a secure, democratic homeland for the Jewish people. “One can criticize specific policies of the government of Israel while still strongly supporting the state of Israel and the people of Israel. Pfizer on Wednesday said its experimental gene therapy for a rare genetic blood-clotting disorder succeeded in a large late-stage trial, paving the way for a potential approval. Without enough of that protein, the blood cannot clot properly, increasing the risk of spontaneous bleeding and severe bleeding after surgery. Pfizer said its one-time treatment significantly cut the number of annual bleeding episodes in patients with moderately severe to severe hemophilia A after 15 months. If approved, Pfizer's therapy will compete with BioMarin Pharmaceutical 's one-time treatment Roctavian. BioMarin is reportedly considering whether to divest its hemophilia A therapy, which costs $2.9 million.

Recent polling suggests nearly 9 in 10 Americans believe Mr. Biden’s decision to step aside was the right one. 65 called Mr. Biden’s withdrawal a coup or said it amounted to election interference. These statements have tended to argue that Mr. Biden’s decision to end his candidacy was not his own, was not democratic or both. Some of this language began to bubble up among Republicans even before Mr. Biden announced that he would drop out. CNN —Scientists announced in December the successful creation of the Brain Care Score, a tool for assessing dementia or stroke risk without medical procedures. That score, which also helps patients and doctors identify beneficial lifestyle changes, may now also be able to predict the odds of developing depression later in life, according to a new study. The 21-point Brain Care Score, or BCS, refers to how a person fares on 12 health-related factors regarding physical, lifestyle and social-emotional components of health. “The Brain Care Score is a simple tool designed to help anyone in the world answer the question, ‘What can I do to take better care of my brain?’” said study author Dr. Jonathan Rosand, cofounder of the McCance Center for Brain Health at Massachusetts General Hospital and lead developer of the BCS, in a news release. The higher a participant’s score, the lower their risk of brain disease.

Walter Shapiro, a canny, penetrating and often contrarian political columnist whose career included stints as a presidential speechwriter, stand-up comic, professor, author and, as a college student, congressional candidate, died on Sunday in Manhattan. The cause of his death, in a hospital, was an infection related to his recent treatment for cancer, his wife, the journalist and author Meryl Gordon, said. The next year, at 16, he took his first airplane flight to attend President John F. Kennedy’s funeral. He began his career in journalism at Congressional Quarterly and went on to write for Washington Monthly, The Washington Post, Newsweek, Time, USA Today, The New Republic and Esquire. My household was conservative and I tend to vote Republican, but I never stick to the party for the sake of consistency. I've seen the state change politically, watching it go from blue to red as I went from childhood, to adulthood, to old age. President Biden was, quite frankly, too old four years ago, and he'll certainly be too old four years from now. As far as my dad was concerned, anyone beyond Medicare age, which Biden and Trump have long surpassed, should be passing the torch.
