Ben Francis didn't become wealthy through a family inheritance or business school connections. Originally, Francis and co-founder Lewis Morgan launched Gymshark as a website selling fitness supplements, he told CNBC Make It in 2021. "CEO was not the right role for me when I was in my early 20s," Francis told CNBC Make It. "Just because I'd started a business that had grown very quickly didn't mean I was the most competent chief exec." "I really think Gymshark can be the U.K.'s answer to those brands," Francis told CNBC Make It.

Dawn-Michelle Lewis loves remote work, but not her remote job. Many researchers have found a correlation between remote work and happier employees. The share of remote postings could fall to 10% by the end of 2023, Nick Bloom, a leading work-from-home researcher and Stanford economist, previously told Insider. Remote work also saves them money on transportation — they sold one of their two vehicles — and allows them to live almost wherever they want. I want to give people the same opportunity of remote work I have been fortunate enough to have."

Remaking the River That Remade L.A.February 1938 was a wet month in Los Angeles. Reservoirs overflowed, dams topped out and floodwaters careered down Pacoima Wash and Tujunga Wash toward the Los Angeles River. The Los Angeles River was never a storybook river of the kind that, like the Hudson or the Seine, we associate with great cities. Among the naysayers is a venerable organization called Friends of the Los Angeles River, founded by the Texas-born poet and performance artist Lewis MacAdams. “With all the problems L.A. is facing,” he said, “even if it costs $50 billion to fix the river, we should just effing do it.”The headwaters of the Los Angeles River aren’t easy to find.

WARSAW, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Four lion cubs and a black leopard cub from war-torn Ukraine have found safety in a Polish zoo, the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) said, after surviving drone attacks and bombing in the first few months of their lives. The cubs were transferred to animal rescue organisations in Kyiv and Odessa after a crackdown on the exotic pet trade in Ukraine, and are now in Poznan zoo in western Poland awaiting onward travel. IFAW said it had partnered with a sanctuary in the United States and one in Europe to care for the cubs, who were bred in captivity and cannot be released into the wild. The Wildcat Sanctuary (TWS) in the United States will take care of the lion cubs. Haitian gangs have for a month prevented the distribution of diesel and gasoline, crippling businesses and hospitals and creating shortages of basic goods including water just as the country is struggling with a new outbreak of cholera. The State Department has created a new visa restriction policy targeting those who support the gangs and has sent a Coast Guard vessel to patrol Haitian waters. Sporadic looting and gun battles between gangs and police have become increasingly common in recent weeks as the shortages have led to mounting desperation. Another Biden administration official during the phone briefing said the travel bans were meant to hold accountable those who are linked to the gangs. "Our intent in doing so is to demonstrate that there are consequences for those who fund and foment violence in Haiti," the official said.
As recessionary fears mount and economic growth concerns persist, Atlantic Equities says investors should put their money in resilient consumer names such as Kimberly-Clark . Analyst Edward Lewis upgraded shares of the Huggies and Kleenex maker to overweight, citing an attractive entry point for the stock following the recent market pullback. "At the same time, cost pressures are likely to ease supporting margin expansion and EPS recovery. Lewis also thinks cost pressures from Kimberly-Clark's exposure to pulp, resin and energy, which have hit gross margins, should ease into 2023. Lewis maintained the firm's $135 price target on Kimberly-Clark, suggesting a 21% upside for shares from Tuesday's close despite falling 22% this year.
