☆ Barcelona hammers Hammarby 9-0 to equal club record Women’s Champions League victory

CNN —Barcelona Femení equaled the largest Women’s Champions League victory in the club’s history on Wednesday night, crushing Swedish side Hammarby 9-0 at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. The Blaugrana were champions that season and have three Women’s Champions League titles to their name, the second most in history behind Lyon with eight. The record win by any team in the Women’s Champions League came in 2012, when Apollon Limassol routed Ada Velipojë 21-0 in the qualifying round. Goals from Graham Hansen and substitute Esmee Brugts made it 8-0, before Fridolina Rolfö’s penalty completed the scoring. A Florida man accused of tying his dog to a fence and abandoning it as Hurricane Milton approached the state is now charged with aggravated animal cruelty, authorities announced Tuesday. “In Hillsborough County, we take animal cruelty very seriously,” Lopez said in the statement. CNN —An Israeli military reservist who survived the Nova festival massacre has been hailed as a “hero” by the country’s security minister, for confronting two gunmen behind Tuesday’s shooting and stabbing attack in Tel Aviv. Seven people were killed and 16 wounded in the attack on Jerusalem Boulevard in Jaffa, a port neighborhood in southern Tel Aviv, according to Israeli Police. Russian intelligence services are building up their presence in Mexico for spy operations targeting the United States, a return to Cold War tactics by an increasingly aggressive regime, according to U.S. officials and former intelligence officers. The Mexican Embassy and the Russian Embassy did not respond to a request for comment. “Part of this is a function of the fact that so many Russian intelligence officers have been kicked out of Europe. Those are Russian intelligence personnel, and they keep an eye very closely on their opportunities to have influence on U.S. opportunities and access,” VanHerck said. The market for nonalcoholic drinks has been growing as more people — notably younger adults — look to cut their alcohol use. Bowdring says there’s emerging evidence that nonalcoholic beverages may prime kids to switch to the real thing. Surveys of elementary, middle and high school students in Japan, where the legal drinking age is 20, found that 20% to 30% said they were drinking nonalcoholic beverages. So minors in those states can buy nonalcoholic drinks but not those with low levels of alcohol. For minors, there’s no benefit in consuming nonalcoholic drinks, and there is some evidence of potential harm, she said — which is why she thinks states need to step in to curb sales.

The agency was commissioned within the Treasury Department, and the Secret Service was entirely focused on counterfeit money, a major problem of the day.
