A suspension bridge collapsed and killed at least 68 people in the western Indian state of Gujarat after the more-than-century-old structure was crowded with hundreds of visitors on Sunday, according to the state disaster management agency. Officers managing emergency operations for the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority said that as of late Sunday night, 68 bodies had been recovered. Some 170 people had been rescued and taken to a local hospital in Morbi district, where the incident occurred. Rescue operations are continuing, the disaster agency said.
