Reuters reported on March 9 (here) that the Kansas Republican legislature passed a bill banning transgender athletes from competing in female school sports if they were born male. The bill banned transgender girls and women from female sports teams in public elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and colleges, and from private school teams that compete against public schools. Nothing in the bill specifies how the biological sex of the students is to be determined. The Kansas bill HB 2238 does not contain any reference to genital inspections of student athletes, nor does it specify how state education groups should implement the new law restricting participation in girls’ sports teams.

But there's still the divide on the corporate tax priorities and child tax credit, and at a basic level, getting a bipartisan tax bill through the House and Senate and to the White House is always challenging. Many companies were surprised that the R&D tax credit did not get extended in the late year legislative package because it had so much bipartisan support.

Senate Democrats’ main super PAC says it’s planning to spend more than $4 million in television ads to boost Warnock. But McConnell endorsed Walker in the primary, after which Democrats unloaded on the Republican nominee in a brutal ad campaign. The Dec. 6 Georgia runoff between Walker and Warnock won’t decide the balance of power in the Senate, now that Democrats are assured control. After Republicans failed to win control of the Senate this week, top McConnell and Scott allies pointed fingers. Roberts, who retired after the 2020 election, said McConnell and Scott must set aside their differences to win Georgia.
