That was the obvious crowd sentiment at the D23 Disney Entertainment Showcase on Friday, where the company previewed its upcoming lineup of film and streaming comfort content. D23, for those unfamiliar with the biennial pilgrimage of Disney fans to Anaheim, California, is part cosplay convention, part promotional pep fest. It was as if Disney, borrowing a line from Russell Crowe in “Gladiator,” asked, “Are you not entertained?”Hard not to be. CNN —The galaxy far, far away is about to add another starry member to its ranks. Oscar-nominee Jude Law was on hand in Anaheim, California on Friday night at D23 – Disney’s massive fan expo that drew a crowd of 12,000 – to present “Skeleton Crew,” a new “Star Wars” series set to premiere on Disney+ in December. Ahead of unveiling the first-look trailer, Law billed the new series as “a timeless adventure story in the spirit of the Amblin coming-of-age films from the ’80s,” mentioning 1985’s “The Goonies” and “E.T.” from 1982 as examples. Things take a decidedly “Goonies”-style turn when the band of misfit youths stumble on a hidden fortress in the forest, where water slides, skeletons and adventure await. “Skeleton Crew” will stream with a two-episode premiere on December 3 on Disney+.

The Federal Reserve is gearing up to cut interest rates as soon as next month, which could bring relief to people with mortgages, credit cards and car loans. Certificates of deposit — fixed-rate bank accounts with term limits — are a go-to when interest rates are high. With interest rates coming down, the idea is just pay and save as much as you can right now. CNN —An exquisite injury-time goal from Jude Bellingham handed England a dramatic lifeline in a 2-1 victory against Slovakia at Euro 2024. Harry Kane’s goal soon after completed the remarkable comeback and saved England from what would have been an embarrassing defeat. The Three Lions will now face Switzerland in the quarterfinals on July 6 and will need a much-improved performance in order to progress in the tournament. Schranz’s goal put Slovakia ahead midway through the first half at Gelsenkirchen’s Arena AufSchalke, and despite dominating possession from that point, England remained frustrated for much of the contest. Indeed, Bellingham’s acrobatic goal was the team’s first shot on target – a moment of magic in what was otherwise a lackluster performance.

This was, for the most part, a dismal England performance, regardless of the supernatural deliverance at the end. Everything that was bad about today in Gelsenkirchen had been signposted by England over the course of the last few weeks. The red flags had all been there since England opened their campaign in this same city two weeks ago.
