COPENHAGEN, Sept 29 (Reuters) - NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Friday said he was confident that both Poland and Slovakia would continue to support Ukraine in its war with Russia after imminent elections, despite recent harsh rhetoric towards Kyiv. Poland, which elects a new parliament on Oct. 15, said last week it would no longer agree to new arms deliveries to Ukraine but instead focus on rebuilding its own stocks. "I'm expecting and I'm confident that Ukraine and Poland will find a way to address those issues without that impacting in a negative way the military support to Ukraine," Stoltenberg told Reuters in an interview in Copenhagen. NATO-member Slovakia has also been a staunch ally of Ukraine, sending its eastern neighbour military equipment including MiG-29 fighter jets and an S-300 air defence system. But opposition leader and former prime minister Robert Fico, who leads polls ahead of Saturday' election, has pledged to end that military support.

SAS filed for U.S. bankruptcy protection last year as it struggled to slash costs and debt amid strikes by pilots. SAS hopes to raise 9.5 billion Swedish crowns ($863 million) in new equity and convert 20 billion crowns of debt into equity. They could include Sweden's family-owned Wallenberg foundation, which currently holds a 3.4% stake in SAS, or Danish pension funds, he said. Once that is done, SAS can begin proceedings to exit chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, which could be late this year or next year, Pedersen said. It is not clear if SAS will be taken off the Swedish stock market after exiting bankruptcy protection.

Novo Nordisk declined to comment on the report, but said in an emailed statement that the site was "running and producing for the market". MarketWire did not specify when the FDA inspection occurred. According to the FDA, a Form 483 is a type of agency report containing "observations" that FDA inspectors "deem to be objectionable".

COPENHAGEN, Aug 30 (Reuters) - Lego continued to take market share in the first six months of the year even as the toy market declined and Chinese consumers returned to stores at a slower pace than expected, the Denmark-based toymaker said on Wednesday. By comparison, Lego grew sales 17% last year and 27% the year before. "But we've taken market share and have grown 10% faster than the market." The company's consumer sales grew 3% in a market that declined by 7%, meaning it grabbed market share from competitors like Hasbro (HAS.O) and Barbie-maker Mattel (MAT.O). He said he believes Lego can continue opening stores at the same pace for another five to 10 years.

Wegovy is the first-to-market in a new class of highly effective weight-loss drugs. The self-injection drug has transformed the fortunes of Novo, whose shares have surged about 165% since Wegovy's U.S. launch two years ago. The lion's share may be claimed by frontrunners Novo and its U.S. rival Eli Lilly and Co (LLY.N). Last month, Novo launched Wegovy in Germany, its first big European market. Denmark this month began training eight Ukrainian pilots in flying the jets, the Danish armed forces said. Officials from a coalition of 11 nations have said F-16 training will also take place in Romania. A Ukranian air force spokesman has said he did not expect Ukraine to be able to operate F-16 jets this coming winter. Designed in the 1970s and produced in the 1980s by General Dynamics, now a part of Lockheed Martin (LMT.N), the F-16 jets that Ukraine will receive are around 40-years-old. Russia warned that supplying jets to Ukraine would escalate the war.

Denmark and the Netherlands on Sunday announced they would supply F-16s to Ukraine, with the initial six due to be delivered around New Year. Danish Defence Minister Jakob Ellemann-Jensen said Ukraine may only use the donated F-16s within its own territory. "We donate weapons under the condition that they are used to drive the enemy out of the territory of Ukraine. The Netherlands has 42 F-16s available in all but has yet to decide whether all of them will be donated.

"The main issue with methanol at this stage is increasing access and the scale of green production," Peter Lye, global head of shipping at Anglo American, said. Reuters GraphicsNetherlands-based OCI, which supplied green methanol to Maersk's first ship, can produce up to 200,000 tpy of the renewable fuel. Bashir Lebada, CEO of OCI's methanol and fuels business, said the vessel orders have given suppliers a confidence boost in advancing their green methanol projects even though production is "very small" now. Most green methanol projects are located in China, northern Europe and North America - far from major bunker hubs Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, creating a logistical gap. Within Asia, South Korea and China are set to increase their capacity to fuel ships with green methanol.

Companies Novo Nordisk A/S FollowCOPENHAGEN, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Novo Nordisk's (NOVOb.CO) limits on U.S. supplies of starter doses of its hugely popular Wegovy weight-loss drug will last into next year even as the Danish drugmaker spends billions boosting output, its CEO told Reuters on Thursday. Earlier on Thursday, the company said it would continue to restrict U.S. supplies of starter doses of Wegovy as the company struggles to keep up with soaring demand. Novo has denied this, but when asked about this on Thursday Jorgensen said there may be shortages. The company expects to apply for regulatory approval for an expanded label indication in the U.S. and European Union later this year. "It'll take some time before we get it on label," Jorgensen said.

The news came as the Danish drugmaker raised its full-year profit and sales forecasts for a second time. Wegovy is a weekly injection that can help patients to shed 15% of their weight alongside diet and exercise changes. Reuters has reported that larger doses are also in short supply, which Novo has denied. Many analysts had expected Novo to raise earnings guidance, given the huge U.S. demand for the weekly injection. The company also warned that it expected "continued periodic" supply constraints and drug shortages across a number of products and geographies.

Novo said the eagerly-awaited study results, which have not been peer reviewed, showed that patients on Wegovy had a 20% lower incidence of heart attack, stroke or death from heart disease compared to those on a placebo. Lilly's shares rose nearly 15% in early U.S. trading, boosted by its upbeat quarterly results and Novo's trial data.

Moller-Maersk (MAERSKb.CO) warned on Friday of a steeper decline in global demand for shipping containers by sea this year prompted by muted economic growth and customers reducing inventories. The company, one of the world's biggest container shippers with a market share of around 17%, said it expects container volumes to fall by as much as 4%. Maersk, one of the world's biggest container shippers with a market share of around 17%, transports goods for retailers and consumer companies such as Walmart, Nike and Unilever. Maersk posted record earnings last year due to high freight rates caused by high consumer demand and pandemic-related log jams at ports. But freight rates have tumbled this year amid a global economic slowdown.

"It's all about containing those kinds of capabilities from the north," retired U.S. Major General Gordon B. Davis Jr. told Reuters. "With five submarines we can close the Baltic Sea," Linden told Reuters. The region from the Baltic in the south to the high north may become almost an integrated operating area for NATO. It was first shipped from Germany across the Baltic Sea, then trucked nearly 900 km to the north. "It would make it very difficult for the Russian Baltic Sea fleet to operate in a free way," he said.

COPENHAGEN, May 22 (Reuters) - Denmark would like to host a summit in July about how to find peace between Ukraine and Russia, but such a meeting would require engagement from India, China and Brazil, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen said Monday. A peace summit should not just be attended by Ukraine's allies. "It is necessary to build interest and involvement from countries like India, Brazil and China," Lokke Rasmussen said, adding that "it is hard for me to see" Russia participating in such a summit. "If Ukraine finds that the time has come to have such a meeting, that would be fantastic. And then Denmark would obviously like to host the meeting," he said.
The discord between Russia and the other Arctic Council members means that an effective response to these changes is far less likely. Recently, it has taken steps to expand cooperation in the Arctic with non-Arctic states. On April 24, Russia and China signed a memorandum establishing cooperation between the countries' coast guards in the Arctic. "We need to safeguard the Arctic Council as the most important international forum for Arctic cooperation and make sure it survives," Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Eivind Vad Petersson told Reuters. "I don't see an Arctic Council without Russia in the future," said Larsen, a Greenland lawmaker at the Danish Parliament and the Chair of Arctic Parliamentarians, a body including MPs from across the Arctic countries.
Denmark's central bank raises key rate, following ECB hike

COPENHAGEN, May 4 (Reuters) - Denmark's central bank raised its key interest rate by 0.25 percentage points to 2.85% on Thursday, following a rate hike earlier in the day by the European Central Bank. "The interest rate increase is a consequence of the increase by the European Central Bank of its main monetary policy rate, the deposit facility rate, by 0.25 percentage point," the central bank said in a statement. The move was Denmark's seventh rate hike since July last year, closely tracking the ECB and other central banks across the globe that are tightening monetary policy to combat inflation. Denmark's benchmark current account interest rate and the certificate of deposit rate were each raised by 0.25 percentage points to 2.85% from 2.6%, while the so-called lending rate was raised by 0.25 percentage points to 3% from 2.75%. The Russian navy ships were traced using satellite images and intercepted radio communication from the Russian fleet, the four broadcasters, Denmark's DR, Norway's NRK, Sweden's SVT and Finland's Yle, said. Authorities in Denmark, Sweden and Germany have said the explosions that ruptured the Nord Stream 1 and newly-built Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines that link Russia and Germany across the Baltic Sea were deliberate. The Kremlin on Tuesday denied Russian ships had any involvement in the sabotage and called for results of the investigations to be published. The Russian ships traced by the four broadcasters had all switched off their AIS signal, an automatic tracking system used on ship, they said. One of the ships in the area was Russian navy research vessel Sibiryakov, satellite images indicated.
SAS has lost almost 60% of its value since it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last July, seeking to slash costs and debt after wage talks with pilots collapsed. Apollo will mainly work with aviation regulators in Sweden and Denmark to secure approval, the first source said. The move comes as the airline looks for large investors and seeks to raise equity as part of its Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan. Denmark's finance ministry told Reuters it was looking for one or more shareholders to take a majority stake in SAS. The company also became the largest shareholder in Mexican airline Aeromexico (GRPAF.PK) in 2020 following Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings.
COPENHAGEN, March 29 (Reuters) - An object found close to the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline in the Baltic Sea appeared to be a maritime buoy and does not pose a safety risk, the Danish Energy Agency said on Wednesday. The object, which was retrieved on Tuesday by the Danish navy, was discovered during an inspection of the last remaining intact pipeline by Swiss-based operator Nord Stream 2 AG. The object does not pose a safety risk," the agency said in a statement. Last week, Denmark invited the Russian-controlled Nord Stream operator to assist in retrieving the object. A representative from Nord Stream 2 AG was present during the operation, which was carried out at a depth of 73 meters, the agency said.
